Trinity travels to Carmel, Indiana to take on the Greyhounds this Friday. This is the Shamrocks first visit to Carmel High School. A former Trinity head coach, Kevin Wright, leads the Greyhounds. Wright was the head coach for the 1999 season and finished 11-2. This marks Trinity’s second game versus a first-time opponent this season. The Rocks take on two more new opponents in consecutive weeks following this contest.

The Greyhounds are rated the number 2 dynasty in Indiana by MaxPreps over the past 10 seasons. They posted a 105-28 record, earning two Class 5A (big school) championships. Carmel has a MaxPreps Indiana Preseason All-State player in Austin Roberts, a 6’2” 220 lb. wide receiver. Roberts verbally accepted a scholarship offer from UCLA earlier this summer.

Carmel defeated Arsenal Tech 6-2 this past Friday. The Greyhounds were pushed to their limit by Tech. Carmel gave up a safety, snapping the ball out of the end zone on a punt attempt at the 3:09 mark of the first quarter. The Greyhounds’ John Lampe scored the only touchdown in the game on a seven-yard run at 00:48 in the first half. These would be the final points scored in this matchup.

Trinity is seeking their first win of the season after dropping a 27-26 decision to Ensworth of Nashville, TN. Quarterback Reggie Bonnafon is expected to be ready for action after suffering cramps in his thumb and forearm last Friday. The Rocks will try to establish a more potent running attack while maintaining their efficient passing game. Defensively, another formidable running team will test the Rocks. Coach Wright's history shows the Greyhounds rely on the run to control the tempo of the game. Trinity’s defensive backfield will be expected to improve this week in pass coverage. Several players will be tested in an effort to find the best combination for success. Coach Beatty’s staff has shown the ability to make positive personnel adjustments based on game performance.

Fast Facts: Carmel has approximately 4,800 students and claims the top spot in enrollment in Indiana. The football stadium seats almost 7,000. The Greyhounds have 7 state football titles.

Carmel may have more questions about their team than Trinity after their performance this past Friday. Arsenal Tech of Indianapolis is not normally a difficult opponent for the successful large school programs in Indiana. The Greyhounds turned the ball over more often than normal. Despite the loss, Trinity's confidence in a big game versus a good opponent is a huge positive asset.

Go get'em, Rocks!

Rocks bounce back. Win by 2 scores.

I finally found some information regarding Carmel's first game opponent, Arsenal Tech. They are an inner city school whose head coach lost his job due to Indiana Public Schools downsizing. He and most of his football staff were non-teachers.

Their defense is supposed to be one of the better groups in Indianapolis area. Carmel apparently made a number of mistakes on offense.

The kickoff is 7PM. Indy and Louisville share the same time zone.

The combination of a new, young defense that now has a game's worth of film to review and the lack of D'Andre Ferby on the field come together to lead to a Trinity win.

Shamrocks by a touchdown.

With Carmel being a strong running team, this will definitely help the Rocks in developing their run defense as the season progresses. Hoping for a win.

Carmel believes they will win every time they step on the field in every sport. They are high achievers scholastically and athletically. Coach Wright brought Coach Coverdale to Trinity. They remain great friends. Coach Wright was a position coach on Coach Beatty's All-American East team in January. They know and respect each other. The game will be well coached and hard fought.

Trinity 21-14.

Trinity gets a taste of victory this week. Rocks will win easy, 32 - 7, in this game. Lampley has already warned Beaty that 2 L's in a row and your on the chompin block...... !!!!

Could have picked a worse place to play. Carmel is an awesome city/area.

I assume Mr. Bonnafon is OK. Any injury updates would be appreciated. Possibly some shuffles in the defensive backfield???

I can't imagine they'd have another Ferby in the backfield... hope not anyway! I say the ROCKS bounce back and win 20-14.
