  1. The invasion has started. Three grands arrived. One with no luggage so we did 2 day clothes shopping. The rest arrive Friday. Let family time begin..
  2. Shocked, shocked I say. I had never heard that word before. Not in public, at least.

    Wishes

Yes. I wish each of you peace and prosperity now and in the New Year. I truly feel as if we are friends. Or maybe family with some of the squabbles we sometimes have. MERRY CHRISTMAS all.
  4. Prayers for your family @newarkcatholicfan. Merry Christmas to All. It's pretty quiet here at the RV resort.plans for dinner with old friends and neighbors tomorrow and then the long wait till all the kids and grandkids arrive on the 28th. The anticipation when you only have them all together twice a year is almost unbearable.
  5. My go to for by myself drink with dinner is Menage a Trois California soft red. $8 TO $9. I buy this often. I had it with a grilled pork chop with a spicy rub, mashed potatoes and a green salad with fruit , nuts, and blue cheese..
  6. Got to FL without problems. Traffic was heavy in the usual spots (Atlanta). Not any major road construction. Now straightening everything out in the motor home for living a few months. Kids arrive for the holiday on the 28th. I can't wait to see them all together.
  7. Blackened fish is another tasty food to cook in the skillet. Do it on the grill. No fish in the house. Stove to oven is another advantage.
  8. It was 1951. I was 10 years old. My dad, an independent truck driver, had broken his leg badly just before Thanksgiving. He was on bed rest. I will never know why, maybe she was just so stressed, but my mom gave my 8 year old sister and me $10. and let us out of the car at the five and dime with instructions to buy ourselves and our 3 younger siblings presents for Christmas. My sister bought me a doll. I had never played with dolls. I bought her the coolest doctor kit ever. She had never expressed any interest in one. We bought the other kids gifts and a Cootee game because we still had money. We all sat on Dad's bed Christmas day and played Cootees. Best Christmas ever and my sister and I traded gifts.
  9. I have had mine for over 55 years. I have three. A square, a chicken fryer and a smaller round. Do follow all directions in seasoning. That is the key to loving it. Do not ever, never ever, wash with dish soap. Easy clean up is maybe a soak for a while, maybe some hot water. Use salt to scour. Dry well. Maybe put back in a warm oven for a while after coating again with fat. Leaving it wet is a no no. Wipe with paper towel, not a white dish towel. Buy as good as you can afford. It can last forever.
