Football Rocks to Wear Surprise Pink Jerseys

for Breast Cancer Awareness on Oct. 12

Louisville, KY – The Trinity Football Rocks will wear traditional green jerseys for senior night festivities and warm-ups prior to tonight’s district contest vs. Male at Marshall Stadium on the campus of Trinity High School.

But when they return to the field for kickoff, they will have switched to pink jerseys in the locker room in light of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Trinity is one of 10 high schools across the country chosen by Adidas to wear the jerseys to raise awareness. Several student-athletes are related to family members who have battled the disease. Coach Bob Beatty said he was approached by Adidas last spring with the idea and agreed to accept the offer to help raise awareness.

It is a secret until game time. Please embargo this information until 7:30 p.m. tonight. We hope you will send photographers to catch what will surely be a memorable (and once-in-a-lifetime) photo opportunity.

Founded in 1953, Trinity is an all-male Catholic high school with 1,320 students and more than 14,250 alumni. Its mission is to provide students with a superior high school education in a supportive atmosphere based upon Christian values in the Catholic tradition.

That was not a knock on T. It was just a statement that some programs wouldn't allow things like that which I believe is a real shame. I know of one school that won't let their kids wear anything pink. I know some schools were everyone must dress the exact same. I know some schools won't let the players be expressive. So it was a simple statement that I'm glad T allows the player to do such things. Not ever statement is an attack or an underhanded statement about T
