Well just got back from the sunny...uh I mean rainy state of California. The combine was a very nice well organized competition as well and in the Preliminary competition Trey was a perfect 8 for 8 and was the leader going into the semi-finals. The semi-finals were head-to-head and he missed a 40 yarder which knocked him out of the competition but he did finish 3rd overall in the freshman division and only had one miss the whole weekend. The 1st place and 2nd place kids were hometowners one from LA and the other was from San Diego. Our KY boy represented our area and our state well. Hope the other guys that were going to Vegas this week do well keep us posted on those results.

Well in roughly 6 hours Owensboro High School freshman kicker Trey Cain will be leaving for the land of Gold the state of California to represent our area and maybe our state in the kicking.com combine finals in Coast Mesa, CA. He will be competing against the top 20 freshman across the country that were selected from the 24 regionals from across the US. For anyone interested I will keep you updated and wish us Luck. Well there are a few very good combines for kickers. kicking.com has 24 regionals across he country with a finals in January for the top 20 in each class. It competes each class in the competition. We are flying out to California in about 6 hours for the finals this year my son was in the top 20 in the freshman class. oneononekicking.com also has a kicking Expo in Miami FL every year as well. And there is also the Ray Guy camps along with a few others. These camps have really been great for us getting my son seen by the best. Although he was only a freshman this year it is never too early to get started looking at your son's future. Although I would like for my son to go to either UK or UL these camps may help another D1 school notice him as well.

Yeah sure is a shame a kid this good only got honorable mention in all-state. I know for a fact the 3rd team all-state kicker set a school record this year with a 37 yarder. I feel the Oldham kid from BG who has hit on 56 consecutive XP and the Cain kid from Owensboro should have been at least honorable mention. Oldham led all state kickers in points with I can't remember but it was a bunch and Cain was the 2nd leading scorer for OHS with 53 points. These 2 kids are going to put up some really big numbers next year, Oldham wil be a senior Cain a sophmore. I found all the state stats on Maxpreps and the 3 boys mentioned above were in the top 10 in every kicking category and for the most part top 5. Cain's stats for the playoffs are not posted on there for some reason.

Sticky that may be a good idea too but there are a few schools in the state that are so much better than any other team that I think it would deter some teams from playing in that division. If you don't have a chance per say what would be the benefit of getting blown out by a T or X every year. But it is a good idea.

Just think if we only had 3 state champs they could put the usual suspects in different games and they could win every year instead of every 9 out of 10. LOL I think KY should divide private and public anyway. And do away with a team making the playoffs that can't beat their own middle school teams. Just my opinion but it would make for better games as a whole.

Oh yeah Cincy I know now. That would be a nice place to play as well for sure.

What and where is PBS?

Why not add some other schools into the mix and just call it a bowl series. I am sure down the road there will be some WKY schools worthy of playing top notch opponents. If we want the state as a whole to be competitive everyone needs to step up their competition. Christian Co. has a really good running back that is a sophmore that is outstanding. Bowling Green has a good team pretty much every year John Hardin was good this year. Owensboro has a freshman group that has only lost 1 game in 3 years and that was to PRP this year. Plus they have a 6'3" QB that is going to be on every college radar in the next year or 2. Maybe do 4 teams X and T HHS and one other and play 4 games. Give some other schools an opportunity to get some exposure most NKY Louisville and Lexington schools get most of the exposure now but there is alot of talent across the state as a whole that would be nice for all the boys. Say Owensboro plays somebody the first year then maybe BG plays the next year and so on. I think you guys are really on to something but you should include a wide variety of teams as say the 4th game or the first game of the day with the 4th game being the highlight game of the Bowl day. Ealry season state finals sort of. You know the teams that are going to be there every year. Highlands, Trinity and X, Male. You know I know there would be so many people that would come to the games if it were that big it might even eventually make ESPN. My brother is a national sports writer for another sport and has a wide range of connections that I would be willing to exploit if there were something in it for Owensboro Schools. To give you a little idea of the people my brother knows last night he called me from Dallas where he was at the Dallas Stars hockey game with Mark Cuban and some of his friends. you guys have some really good ideas and if we could get it at Papa John's that would be awesome give some teams that may not see the red carpet a chance to shine as well especially with all the good big schools in the state. If you guys don't agree can someone tell me which of the schools needs a kicker for the next 3 years so my son can get a chance to play the top schools as well. JUST KIDDING:lol:

Is that just all district in the Louisville area or for all the districts? Here is Owensboro I haven't seen anything but our all area that is just the teams here regardless of class.

This would work as well but how do you determine who would go to the Super Class and who doesn't? We already have to travel almost 100 miles for a district game. We either play at Hoptown or Christian Co. (they play at the same place) every year. For the most part though most of our games are pretty close. Why don't we do like the BCS and put whoever we want in the title games? We could put the teams with the biggest following regardless of record in one of the 6 bowl games so the state athletic association can get better Trophies and othere things for the winners. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

This is true but if you look at the KHSAA board and who is in charge of it all it makes sense why some of the selections are made. I agree you should stay in your class or move all the way up. I think there are some football schools that need to all be in the same class anyway regardless of where they are located. Maybe they should be called independent schools and be able to play anyone. I would really like to see Highlands compete in 6A with Trinity and X. In 6A There are only a handful of teams that can compete year end and year out. I feel Highlands should be in 6A regardless of its enrollment because they can play with Trinity and X and Male and the Louisville schools every year and always will. We will see but I think the alignment has hurt more than helped. Problem is I don't know how you fix it. We are a 5A school but with more 2 year boys than Bowling Green and their team seemed to have 30 more kids than ours (on the sidelines). Problem is just because you have 550 boys on a 2 year average doesn't mean you have 550 boys to choose from for football. The schools that win year end and year out are football schools kids go there to play football(but also to get an education I might add). Our school kids go because they have to go to school somewhere. I haven't seen any of the boys at our school that wear the teddy bear purse back packs trying out for football. Maybe they should classify the schools based on sports participation but that can be scewed as well. I know it sounds like a gripe but I just think the playing field is not level. I do know it doesn't matter what I say on here there are boys all over the state that are working hard to reach their dreams of playing on the red carpet and for some it will happen for some it won't and for a select few it will happen ever year they are in high school. Congratulations to those teams who reached their dreams this year and for those who fell short keep plugging you will get there.

I got the opportunity to see this kid play a few games and saw highlights from about every game they played this year. He is as good as avertised. His bother is also a WR on the team and will be a senior and I also heard that they have a younger brother that I think is a freshman that may be the best of all the McIntosh boys. If I am correct next year's border bowl Reitz will be playing the Owensboro Red Devils. Some of the plays Paul made this year just in the highlights I saw were just amazing if this boy was in KY he would have probably won Mr. Football in KY. They haven't announced Mr. football in Indiana yet but I know he is in the running.

Owensboro had a freshman team as well that lost to Louisville PRP then ran the table after that. This group for Owensboro may be the next team to make a run. They shutout Bowling Green freshman this year and also did not give up many points at all after the lose to PRP.

I definately do not have enough of that and the little bit I do have we spend on that son of mine so he can play college football some day. Good Luck to both teams should really be a good game, unless BG comes out and commits 5 TO's to start the game again then it will be over early I would have to say.

Yes I hope we get to meet up before my son's high school career is done. He talked to his buddy the true Art-o-matic himself Art Carmody this morning about the game last night. He really wanted to kick on Papa John's so Art could be at the game but is was not to be. Hopefully before my son's career is all said and done Automatic Max will move one spot down in those record books. My son I think has only missed 2 XP since 7th grade and the one he missed this year was in a 56-0 blow out in which you would have thought they lost because he really did not want to miss all year. Although our team's season is over my son's isn't as he has to go to California for the kicking.com finals in January so he will be back at it on Monday even if it is snowing just like last off-season. Hopefully if you can get me some info I would like for my son to maybe go to a camp that Max goes to so they can chat a little more. One other note Carmody has been wonderul for my son and just to think next year as m son enters his sophmore year he will have an NFL kicker he call for advice and just to talk that is just a wonderful thought.

Well now the out of district thing can be a little different. I know that we also have kids that play at Owensboro that live out of district, but in those cases these kids either have parents that are teachers or have been in the schools system since middle school. If a kid just goes during his high school years that is a problem. We were in the Owensboro district and moved before my son started 6th grade and believe it or not that is when he started playing football. But the middle school he went to told him he could not play on the football team as a 6th grader because he had never played football before. But there were other 6th graders playing that had. Stupid rule; so we decided going into his 7th grade year that we would pay the tuition and send him back to the school he came from. That school would never tell a kid he could not play--because he never has. That turned out to be the best decision we ever made. He is now making good grades works hard in school and on the field, has a coach that cares and was welcomed with open arms this year as a fresman on a varsity football team full of upper classmen. To see that other school struggle at my son's position made me feel that much better. Not a punch really at that other school, but all they had to do was give this kid a chance as a 6th grader instead of telling him no, and we may very well still be there. Would have been easier on us as parents, but you do what is best for your kid and in this situation I think we made the right choice. Oh, and back to the game. PH and Mrs. PH you guys have been great to talk with this year and we will do it again next year. Now go kick some BIRDS butts at the pizza palace next week, because they already have enough titles. I sure wish the Moore kid would go to UK. Having season tickets there, I would really like to see how he develops in the next 4 years of college.

Well last week I won the lottery and since our team has a bunch of seniors I decided to buy a neighborhood and give the houses away to displaced families from Hurricane Katrina. I found this one family who has a son that is 6'4" and weighs 325 but runs a 4.2 40 so I gave them a house and since Kentucky Connects to Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Tenn., Virginia, West Virginia and part of California had all the other states not been in the way we decided to change our Public School to a private school and charge $10,000 a year for all the rich smart kids and went to all these states and found the best players in the country and told them they could come here and go to school for free. We also got volunteer retired teachers to work for free so we could sink all the tuition into our football program and believe it or not we had enough money to get Bill Belichick from New England but now we have a problem every kid in america now wants to come here and play football so we put in a loophole that states if any 2 states have a town with the same name those states can be considered a part of the state where you want to go play football. So now we have 100 5 star atheletes playing schools that if they are lucky may have 1 5 star athelete in a decade. We have now won 29 of the last 30 state titles and rub it in to all the little guys and the one year we did not win it was actually taken away from us because we hired former Hoover High School football coach Rush Propst and he changed one of our kids grades without the knowledge of the school, and that kid is now a star QB in the NFL! Well was until he had a run in with some dogs. The whole point of this is if a kid lives in Indiana they go to an Indiana school not to a private school in Kentucky. You have to be a resident in Ohio to go to school there and it should be that way for every state. Not saying if my son was asked to come to Louisville to play foot.... I mean go to school for free on scholarship I would say uh Yeah!!! Because of all the exposure he would get playing in a state title game every year he is in High school, but does that make it fair? No! But until there is a solution to this problem we will see 2 teams trade years winning the title in 6A and they are both very good and a real joy to watch. What? Ok, well I gotta go I just heard there is a kid on the phone that want to come here next year that rushed for 6,000 yards and scored 120 TD's in just 10 games this year. Well looks like #30 is just around the corner.

Well in my opinion there is still a problem and nobody will ever be able to compete with Trinity and X not in my life time. Some schools have a bigger budget and also have more kids to choose from or should we say pull from. Not knocking what is right but in 6A everyone is playing to be a semi finalist and 5A I think Highlands will be in the state finals for the umpteen years. I still disagree with the different rules the private schools have over the public schools. Does anyone know how many of the teams in the finals are Public VS private schools. I know I am opening up a big can but it is true, if my son wanted he could right now decide he wanted to go to Owensboro Catholic next year and we could say the reason we are doing it is because we changed religions and he would be eligible instantly as has happened in this town before recently. Not gripping because we got beat I just think there needs to be a level playing field for everyone and right now I just don't see it. It is almost like the BCS in a way but the BCS has killed college football because the best teams will not be playing again this year because they play in the SEC. The only thing we can hope for is Trinity or X one loses a little bit of enrollment and one of them falls to 5A so they can both win a state title every year instead of having to play each other every year to win one. HaHaHa! I think maybe they need to change the classes based on team size not school enrollment. BG had our team out numbered tonight I bet 2 to 1 and when you have a varsity number of 96 to a team with say 45 to 60 what are the odds that the smaller team will win the game. Evansville Reitz won the Indiana 5A title this year and when they walked on the field they had to start coming out with about 5 minutes left on the clock so the last guy out of the locker room could be on the side lines before the start of the game. How about teams are classified by performance then you would have better games and closer games. I really do not know how you fix it really would be hard in my opinion.

I would really like to see this game but won't be able to attend, but I might add Steelman has a very nice fake, he even fooled the refs on one of them that blew the play dead when we tackled the RB and our fans were cheering and I saw Steelman just trotting the other direction with the ball I was the closest person to him and I was 10 rows up. LOL Good Luck both teams I will be listening on the radio. Oh yeah and the Moore kid is really good reminds me of a young Randy Moss just throw the ball to him and he will go up and get it well except for a few times tonight and he is also hard to throw against while he is playing safety. Steelman needs to be a little more composed under pressure though Owensboro got to him early and he made several mistakes but after Bowling Green made some adjustments and got him more time he picked us apart with the big guys he had to throw to.

That is OK we will get another chance I am sure to meet. I have a feeling this will not be the ast playoff game between the Devils and the Purples. Plus my son will be there for 3 more years.

Well good luck to the purples next week at papa john's. Very good team. I felt that if we had a few calls that went the other way the game might have been a little closer but I still feel the better team won the game tonight. Automatic MAX has a nice leg and talked to my son after the game and had some nice things to say to him which proved that MAX is truly a class act. I am proud of our guys for a wonderful season and to those seniors that will now be leaving us I just want to add that it has truly been a pleasure to watch all of you this year you guys are true champions in my book regardless.

JEB Good Luck to you guys Friday night I know it is an uphill battle but you never know and you are right they have a bunch of heart and even more fight. Congrats on a great year as well win or lose those boys had a very good year and you know they are all saying we don't have a chance against Bowling Green either and I know our boys have just as much fight as well.
