  1. I would like to add a statistics reply? Woodfoord Co. Beat Bryan Station during the season 21-14 then Woodford goes to Meade Co. and loses 21-0 then Meade Co. comes to Rash stadium and loses 48-0 with running clock in the 2nd half. Highlands beat Bryan Station 28-22 so does that mean Highlands would lose to Meade Co. and loses 21-0 or if they came to Rash Stadium would OHS beat Highlands with a running clock? Does anyone see where I am going with this??? Scores mean nothing in the playoffs!!! I have one more question in the BGP 5A rankings why would you have a team at #10 that was last in its own district just because they gave Highlands a close game or what? Also look at the 5A rankings 7 of the top 10 are WKY schools and the winner from that side will have to beat at least 3 of those 7 to make it to Papa John's. The WKY must be the SEC of Ky High school football!! Well at least in 5A I better add that! The post above I just wanted to show just how big of an upset BS over Highlands would have been no matter how the BLUE nation spun the game.
  2. Do you guys start a thread like this to make yourselves feel better or what? Of course 99% of the vote is going to be for the school that won it last year and for the most part all the posters on here reside. I hate to be a turd and all but this is almost like starting a thread on here who wins 6A and putting more than 2 teams on the selection. I can see it now next thread after Friday night...........Can anybody beat the Bluebirds??? I think this is the kind of arrogance some talk about on here. I am going to go out on a limb here and say Highlands gets 9 out of every 10 votes and the other one vote will be spread out amongst the others anybody want to bet me on it????
  3. I think I've read this somewhere before???? You must be from Hoptown!
  4. All of you NKY people and Mountain people have no respect for us people in WKY!!! LOL Just kidding! I would like to see this game and I would like to have seen the BS vs HHS game the ER in Fort Thomas must have been busy after last Friday night. LOL Just goes to show no matter how lopsided a game is suppose to be if you don't bring your A game every night you could be watching next week. Leatherneck very good post history shows the NKY teams have been more successful over the last 20 years whether the rest of us in the state like it or not. The only thing we can do about it is show up and try to whip the tails of the team on the other side of the ball regardless of where they are from. JC if you you think you don't get any respect then earn it and quit talking about it. Beat the teams you play and everyone will talk about you if that is what you want. WKY has had good teams over the years and my team the Owensboro Red Devils have had a long history of always having a good football team over the years then they fell off the wagon and over the past 3 or 4 years chased the wagon down and are holding on to it trying to jump back on. We do not need respect to play the game although respect is nice but I would rather it be the other way around in all honesty. See if you fly under the radar all year then you can sneak up on people and pull off something special. Prepare and have a good game plan execute the game plan and see what happens. If you leave it all on the field and don't make mistakes and still lose sometimes that team was better maybe just for that night or maybe all year that is another argument. All I have to say is we play Bowling Green tomorrow night at BG who has been to the last 3 state finals and well we are going out to win not for respect but to win and move on. The past is the past and the present is now just because BG has made it to the finals isn't going to win the game for them tomorrow night and well if it was why play the game in the first place. If the kids believe they can win you already have won half of the battle. JC has a golden opportunity to earn the respect they claim they are not getting this week and next week by beating 2 very successful NKY teams and when and if that happens there will be no reason to brag on the message boards or trash talk the losers because well they will all be on here talking about how good JC is this year. So good luck tomorrow night and I will wait to see the outcome of all the games.
  5. If Bowling Green were to win by this score I will eat crow but I do not see BG holding the Devils to just 7 and I don't see BG putting up 42 on the Devils D. BG's D gave up a bunch of points to Henderson and OHS has a better running game than Hendo. I look for this to be one of those typical low scoring nail biting OHS vs BG games of old! Flip a coin for the winner.
  6. You apparently did not see that Bryan Station the(#4 seed out of Lexington) gave the Bluebirds all they wanted and Highlands won on a TD in the final minute. So to say nobody has anything for Highlands is a rediculous assumption especially with Highlands having to play 2 on the road against probably 2 teams that are better than Bryan Station. Playing on the road sometimes things happen. I am going to call this game a toss up though could go either way. I hope the Devils can pull this one off but this is not the matchup I wanted in the 2nd round for sure. I do not know how many players BG rested against Hendo on Defense but Henderson putting that many points on BG leads me to think OHS should be able to do the same it is can the OHS D step it up a level and play 4 FULL quarters of football? We all know both teams can put up points but the key to this game is who's defense can step it up and which team gets points off turnovers or special teams.
  7. Well here we are again the long time rivals meet again for the 2nd year in a row just earlier this year than last. What do you think? Last year the Purples beat the Devils to go to Papa John's in the semis can either of these 2 teams make it to the finals this year?
  8. Congrats Monte on setting a new state record those of us that have kickers as son's can admire your accomplishments and know the hard work it is to be a kicker and the work ethic that it takes. Good Luck in the recruiting process as well I see you got your first official offer from the Toppers way to go!!!
  9. I would have to disagree with 5A and say Yorel Shemwell from Owensboro and we will see Friday night when Barksdale and Shemwell go head-to-head!
  10. The constant rain contributed to most of the turnovers as Shemwell fumbled I know twice when OHS was about to score or the game would have been higher than 22-0 at the time. But WC played well moved the ball early and then had a couple of scores late on TOs that put a little scare into the Devils. So now it is off for that 70 mile treck down the Natcher for those Purples. I do not know the weather forecast but I sure hope it is not raining since I am sick now sitting out in the rain Friday night then froze watching the Cats lose to Vandy on Saturday. My feet are still cold!!!
  11. Well we have a turf field now so it doesn't matter how the weather is our guys are still going to be fast regardless that is why Rash has its advantages for OHS we can always utilize our speed regardless weather. Good Luck to both teams and may the Red Devils win!!!
  12. I heard that Graves Co. thought that they were playing some school that dressed a bunch of nuns and when they found out that Trinity was an actual high school in the Ville that is nationally ranked and the guys were pretty big they turned the bus around about halfway there and stopped at chuckie cheese for pizza buffet and went back home. LOL You guys take it easy on the small rural school at least they are going to show up and play I don't know for how long but anyway you have got to respect those kids for trying anyway. Good Luck in the playoffs from Owensboro!
  13. In a down pour the first play from scrimmage there is a fumble and the ball gets lost in a giant mud puddle both teams spend 4 quarters searching the field for the ball along with the refs and as time expires a NC player sees something sticking up like a shark fin. It is the ball and he picks it up and slowly walks around with nobody noticing he has the ball and he walks into the endzone and NC wins this one 6-0. LOL Thought everyone could use a little humor before the games start tonight. Doesn't X have turf anyway? LOL Well X over everybody by 40+ until they play T and then they may have a close game. Good Luck from Owensboro to everyone tonight stay dry and hopefully there will be no major injuries for anyone.
  14. Game time conditions will be a chance of rain with the temps in the 40's and a 20 to 30 mile an hour wind. This game may be a runner and if that is the case I give the advantage to OHS with Shemwell and Williams. OHS I think can RUN with anybody in the state this year as in their RBs. Just in case somebody did not understand what I meant.
  15. Pigman now that would be a good idea. 5 teams in each district! I agree there and in 5A district 1 next year Madisonville drops down from 6A to make the 5th team in our district.
  16. I was there and I would have to agree this has got to get some mention. This game stopped OHS from having an undefeated regular season. Can someone get me a trash can?? Just kidding! The game was exciting from both sides during this game and well from my side it made you want to throw up late in the game but that is how it goes sometimes.
  17. SLINK that 34 points for OHS better be 4 TDs and 2 FGs their kicker better not miss an XP in that game. LOL OHS gets one home game this year and they are ready to take care of business and hit the road for the next month!!! Hopefully! OHS 35-7 at home.
  18. That is the thruth for sure! It will not be a walk in the park but I think after the Christian Co. collapse OHS will not put in cruise control again and I feel they have something to prove now after that lose. It is nice to not be looking at the rankings and just worry about taking care of business with a young team. Get the buses fired up we have long road trip after week 1!!!
  19. If we (as in Owensboro) are the best of the rest I am fine with taking a shot at the big dogs!
  20. Glad to here the cats are finally getting serious. I was going to go to that game tomorrow but something came up and we can't go now. Should be a great game to watch for sure. Good Luck to Monte!
  21. If that 58 yarder makes it past this year it will not stand much longer I am afraid to say. OHS has a sophmore kicker that hit a 60 yarder in a scrimmage this year. But hey you never know 58 yards is a long way from the uprights that is for sure. I think Monte can do it! The kicking game in High School football has come a long way in the past 5 years at least in the state of KY.
  22. So any news on the recruiting front for MM? What is the state record for longest FG? There is a sophmore kid in Owensboro that is watching this recruitment closely to determine his future as well. I have this feeling that points record will go down this week or next!:thumb:
  23. Glad to see MAX broke the record! Congrats from the big O now if we can just get a kicker hear close to that record! LOL
  24. Raodrunner if you can compete year in and year out with them I say why not! I want our kids to play them just for the recognition if they were to give them a close game. We probably would like the rest of them and lose by 50 or so but hey you can't knock a team for trying. You guys have 20 schools within 10 miles of each other and you guys are the only ones that win every year???? Just kidding!
  25. Birdfan I may be a little off but to be a 3A so called school and I looked on the KHSAA website and Highlands has us out numbered by several and we have all of our freshmen listed and Highlands only has 10-12 graders so I would say the numbers are higher for Highlands over most of the 5A schools as in actual players on the team and usually we out number most of the teams in the western side besides maybe Bowling Green. Remember I am not complaining just putting a little bit of fact behind the numbers and as to why Highlands is always sometimes way above the rest of the schools in every class minus the big 2. Highlands would beat almost every school in 6A this year and maybe one of the big 2 this year. I would really like to see you guys play at least one of them to see where you stack up. Just be thankful you are fortunate to have all the support of the community and the success you are currently having because you never know when it could change and I know you guys do appreciate what you have. We have 4 schools within 10 miles of each other so all of our support is scattered amongst the 4 schools. If we could maybe pool some of the talent into one school for football we may have a powerhouse ourselves here in Owensboro but that will never happen so we take what we get use it to the best of our ability and see where we get each year. For me I would be happy with the state semi-finals maybe the finals and possibly a state title once in the next 3 years and a full D1 scholarship for my son and I would say high school was a big success. He already has one state-semi and we will see what happens this year and the next 2. Not everybody can be state champions and they shouldn't be measured by that alone. Good Luck to you all and may you have a good playoff season and win or lose feel good about what you have accomplished this year no matter how small the gains may be.:thumb:
