Is Chase Richardson still on Johnson Central's roster? I have heard that Chase's father was recently transferred to Virginia and that his mother has resigned from her position with the school district. If Richardson moves to Virginia, it would be a big loss for the Golden Eagles. I have also heard that Johnson Central's enrollment dropped by around 70 students this fall following the promotion of its principal to the position of Assistant Superintendent. Were any football players among the transfers?

Nothing to be sorry for - not everybody reads every single Johnson Central post I am sure that not everybody who visits this thread will be aware that Johnson Central had only a one year contract with Louisville Central. :thumb:

I think that a more experienced OL will help offset Grim's loss. Chase Richardson is a three-year starter and Nathan Dillon had some big rushing games last season. Grim played pretty banged up in the second half of the season and was not as much a factor down the stretch as he was his junior season.

Johnson Central will not be down in 2008. The Golden Eagles will once again be among the leading rushing teams in the state. Despite losing JK Ratliff, they return quite a bit of depth at QB in part because of Ratliff's injury two years ago. Ian Welch is one of the best all around returning players in eastern Kentucky.

With Shawn Grim's graduation, Johnson Central's Chase Richardson will be among the state leaders in rushing this fall. The number of yards that he racks up will depend on how Matney decides to distribute the carries between Nathan Dillon and Richardson.

Paintsville's new head coach, jason kinner, is 26.

I read in the H-L that the consolation game between Covington Catholic and Paintsville was canceled. Does anybody know why?

Thanks for the info. I did not recall Coach Runyon having such a good record in his only season at the helm. If I recall correctly, Coach Lemaster's record in his initial season was 1-9, and Paintsville stuck with him long enough to turn things around. Considering the turnaround that has taken place across the creek and its impact on Paintsville's available talent pool, Coach Allen's two year record is not bad. If Paintsville does not hire somebody for the long haul, the wheels are going to come completely off the Tigers' football program.

I am sure that BMR just wants to make sure that the Tigers end up with a football coach who will continue the tradition that Walter Brugh, David Lemaster, and he built at Paintsville. How does Coach Allen's career record compare to Bill Mike's record as football coach? What was Lemaster's career record there?

There is no reason to think that a team that can't handle a long bus ride will handle a very physical Belfry team regardless of where the game is played. Maybe Louisville Central expected to roll over Johnson Central and Paducah Tilghman, but I really don't think that the bus ride played a role in those games. A long bus ride will contribute to a team fading in the second half because of fatigue but that is not what happened in Paintsville. The domination started with Johnson Central's first possession. If Central is really as good as some people believe, then maybe their coaching staff simply underestimated some opponents and did not put enough time into preparing their team. Belfry came to play every week this season and nobody came within 16 points of beating the Pirates.

All polls and all rankings use common opponents to compare teams. Two of Johnson Central's top players were injured prior to the Lincoln Country game. All of JC's players played in the games against both Central and Belfry. Most people who watched both games expect Belfry to win the title game easily. It is impossible to rank teams if you are unwilling to consider the outcomes of games involving common opponents. Obviously, match-ups matter, but as has already been pointed out, JC and Belfry play similar styles and it seems to be style that causes Central problems.

What part of may be do you not understand?:lol: I doubt that you would have objected if I had stated that Highlands may be the third best team in the state. If Belfry wins the 3A title in convincing fashion, I would say that the Pirates would have every bit as strong a claim to the #3 all-classes rank as anybody else. You are assuming that Central at its best is better than Belfry at its best and yet I see no evidence of that being the case. Unless Belfry suffers a rash of unforced turnovers or key injuries, I just can't see them losing to Central.

No I am not a Belfry fan. However I know that JC dominated Louisville Central on both sides of the ball and one week later Belfry dominated the Golden Eagles almost as badly. in both cases, Johnson Central was playing at full strength. (The Central-Johnson Central was 41-7 before the Golden Eagles began running in the second string D.) If Central could not run on Johnson Central, they will have a very tough time moving the ball on Belfry. Certainly there are other teams with a claim to being the third best team in the state, but I only stated that they may be the third best team in the state. Maybe Highlands just had a bad game against Central, but I don't expect Belfry to have a bad game in the state finals.

Johnson Central dominated Louisville Central. Highlands struggled past Louisville Central and Lincoln County dominated Johnson Central.

I would say that 3/4 is a VERY conservative estimate.

Belfry is undefeated and 6-0 against teams with winning records. Somerset is 1-3 this season against teams with winning records. Belfry shutout a Corbin team 21-0 and the 'Jumpers gave up 56 points to the 'Hounds in a losing effort. If Somerset beats the Pirates it will be the biggest upset of the playoffs and maybe the biggest upset of the season.

I have no idea whether David would be interested, but he was a very underrated and under appreciated coach at Paintsville. David Lemaster could turn the Bulldogs' program around if he still has an itch to coach.
