I like Highlands, CCH, JH, and BG. After that, there appears to be a huge drop off.

I got a kick out of the other thread that there were a couple of Northerners that just couldn't get John Hardin's name right. (Johns Hopkins and Johnson Hardin) Make no mistake, come playoffs I'm fairly confident that the folks from the North of the state will know who John Hardin is.

While I generally agree (if you listed them in the order you think they should be ranked), I think a valid and strong argument can be made for ranking CCH first. The parallels to the 06 CCH team are pretty strong. In 05 Highlands beat a CCH team filled with Juniors, including a junior QB learning the system of a first year head coach. In 06, they, with a lot of seniors coming back as returning starters, beat Highlands twice. Highlands in 06 had a talented but thin senior class and counted on a lot of juniors. In 08, you have CCH with a lot of seniors who are returning starters with their second year under Brossart and a returning qb, matching up against Highlands. Highlands this year again has a talented but thin senior class, again will count on a lot of juniors and again will be starting a pretty much first year starting qb (although Tony will have more experience than Clay Cecil did in 06 and Tony either started or played quality time in several games).

 

However, I'm not quite sure that the 08 CCH squad will be as talented position by position as the 06 CCH (still the best and most balanced CCH team that I have ever seen) but still will be pretty dang good. Highlands should be as strong as the Highlands 06 team in all positions but the O line (at this point) and should have a more multidimensional offense than the 06 Highlands team (which will help the inexperienced but talented O line). I'd probably give the nod at this point to Highlands, but by the thickness of a hair on the ear lobe of a one day old baby. The regular season game at Highlands again will be crucial as it will set the tone for what can be safely considered almost a sure rematch in the playoffs.

Coach Holtz;), the one difference in the 08 vs the 06 squad is that the 06 squad returned a great deal of experienced talent at the skill positions. With the exception of the qb plus Van Sant, the rest of the skill positions for CCH are new players.

Just wondering how you see Woodford at #6? They lost a whole lot, especially on Defense. I think they had like 5 or 6 players sign to play college football.Does Woodford have players just as good ready to take their place?

1. Highlands- Until someone beats them they have to be #1

2. John Hardin- Know for having great skill position players they have a huge line this year to complement them.

3. CCH- Played a tuff schedule last year which will benefit them this year.

4. Letcher Co.-

5. Dixie- Have enough returning talent to make a run at the state championship.

6. Bowling Green- Need to replace a load of talent lost to graduation, but always seems to be there in the end.

7. Pulaski Co.

8. Christian Co. If healthy this year may make some noise in the west.

9. Woodford Co. Lost focus late last season will need to maintain drive all season.

10. Warren Central Yes, this was a young team last year with many returning starters.
