Why exactly should CC help make Brossart attractive? Wouldn't CC want to make itself more attractive? After all, they are competing with Brossart for kids. If the new field gets CC 3 football players that were going to go to Brossart, isn't that win for CC?

 

I'm not talking about Football Players or any athleltics for that matter. My point was that if you didn't have the Private schools easing the burden of public schools in educating additional students, then their woudl be less funds and possibly additional taxes to cover those students. I totally agree that it's their choice to go to BB, but you shouldn't look at it so one-sided. The fact is that CC students benefit from CC District kids going to brossart.

 

I also never claimed it was their right or that their shouldn't be a use fee. You will not find that anywhere in my statements. Some of you have a pretty defensive mentality towards it and I won't change your mind. You can't convince someone to have an unselfish community attitude. It's like dealing with a kid that has a new toy and doesn't want anyone else to play with it.

 

btw... I'm a public school guy that sends my kids to Beechwood. I just know the value that private schools bring to the community as well as to the bottom-line of public schools.

From what I heard Highlands is NOT the opening game for the new stadium. Things could have changed but from what I hear it is not the Birds playing in the game.

 

Also, I have no problem BBHS playing in the stadium but there should be a fee. You have to have people from CCHS to work certain things (custodians, people being there to open gates, etc). It might be a little difficult to play at the middle school because the top part of the stadium is coming down and the lights are being taken down from what people are saying.

I think it will be really tough for it to be ready for a game this year.

As a public school grad and now a taxpayer, I have utter disdain for this comment. It is by choice that the residents of Alexandria, highland heights, Cold Spring, etc. pay tuition to go to a private school. Do you hear all of the NCC families that live in Fort Thomas claiming entitlement to play at highlands for their games? No! All the money for CCHS stadium was not tax dollars as you can read in previous posts. I'm getting really tired of people claiming entitlement. No one owes you anything.

 

I didn't see anyone claiming entitlement or claiming that they were "Owed" something. My original statements were in response to someone stating they wanted to deny BB access.

 

Where are the post about the stadium funding? I would like to be enlightened.

 

Edit: Nevermind on the funding thing. I hope you are not referring to the Grant from the Bengals and NFL. $200k is a tiny piece of that project. It doesn't even cover the playing surface.

 

I did find something interesting in that article...

 

"Campbell County School District will build the new field, which will accommodate Campbell County Youth Football and host local community events. An estimated 4,000 users will benefit from the new field."

 

I'm guessing there was a lot of talk about "Community" and not CCHS only when they were applying for the grant.

I will disagree it has nothing to do with church and state. Schools/facilties are built by the community for the community, those in the community paid for that facility. They should have access to it, baring in mine events for the school itsself.

Wrong, I bet you no one from Campbell Co. Is paying for Brossarts nice new addition that was highlighted in the recorder. That would be the diocese of COV. if you want a handout, go knock on Bishop Foyes door and see what he says. This dangerous entitlement thinking is why our country is in the mess we're in. If you want something, then go pay for it. Ed McMahon is not going to show up with a check!

If a parent of a BBHS student feels like it's their right to play a the CCHS stadium the easiest thing for them to do is enroll at CCHS. Otherwise, let it go. Do these same parents claim it's their right to play at NKU or the University of KY because their tax dollars in part go to pay for a state run university? It's the stadium for CCHS and if they let BBHS use it then that's up to them in an attempt to be a good neighbor.

It is amazing to me the hatred toward BBHS and it all comes down to a little school down the street that has better test scores, high college placement numbers, winning sports programs and no resource officer (cop) needed in the school to get through the day so someone doesn't get assulted. That is exactly the thinking the reinforces my decision to send my child to private school. Hopefully this new stadium helps them get there sports programs where they should have been for the last 30 years before these parents go crazy or maybe from the comments above its to late.

I don't see where there has been any hatred towards Brossart shown on this forum. However, the I live in Campbell County and my tax dollars go to the field, so my son or daughter who attends a private school that has no affiliation with the school system should get to use it argument is ludicrous. I have heard Brossart parents complain about having to pay to get into games at Campbell County under the blanket of the same argument. Brossart is PRIVATE. That means that students who attend their school have no entitlement to use public facilities owned by a separate school district. If you want them to be able to use those facilities, send them to the school system that owns them. Otherwise, pay rent or build your own facilities. As far as the school resource officer comment goes, that was one of the most ignorant post I have ever heard. All large public high schools have them in the area. For instance, Ryle has on and I am sure their college placement and Act scores both either match or beat Brossart's.

Campbell County would take the over $3,000,000 a year they would get from the state and federal government, due to these students attending their school system, build the facilities and hire the teachers necessary to privide these students with an education. You did make your choice and your private institution is responsible for providing its athletes with athletic facilities. BTW, they would certainly be able to afford it. Every student that doesn't attend and chooses another route cost the district money. They don't save the district money.
