Geek61
Let me ask, should BBHS be able to use a field when avalible so they do not have to pay to use Scotts field for games. IMO they should get permission since 85% of kids that go there are from Alexandria and pay taxes to build CCHS and all their "Extras". Also in the post that asked if Brossart wanted the 1st game on the field I assume they wanted them to play CCHS in that game. If that is truly the case I would have turned it down as well since they are not ready to play a 6A school and Christian the new field with their blood. I agree, but the reality it that someone will pull the Religion card out to stop it and it will. Its not going to be County Property, but rather belong to the School District. Being one of the first with Turf, I think Beechwood allowed too much use of their field for free. It's showing great wear after only 2/3 of expected life. I do not agree that BB should get to play the first game on the field. That's special and should belong to the Campbell Country kids. The reality is, the first event may very well be a playoff game (if they make it that far) or most likely a Track Meet in the spring.
lawildcat
From what I heard, BBHS was the 1st school Coach Lickert called when looking for a team to kick off the opening. He made the offer to pull the Atown community together with festivities like a big bonfire as well as offering Brossart the option of playing there on Saturday nights so they didn't have to travel to Scott. I was told that BB turned them down flat. Rumor has it - look for the Birds to fly south for the opener! If that's true, this Atown Bluebird can't wait!!! Baller99
Festivities would stop at kickoff for Brossart. Why would they want to start their season with a 70-0 thrashing. If they are looking to bring the community together let they use the field they helped pay for for their 1st game on Saturday night against a team they can play with and maybe win. now that would be good for all the kids. Hell I think they (Brossart) would be happy to use the Middle School field so they don't drive to Scott. I would have "turned them down flat" also because it is not in the best interest of those kids at Brossart and that CC coach knows that.
Pile Driver
Wouldnt you want the first game to go down in the books as a win. I think so. So, I would stay away from Highlands. BBHS would be a sacrificial lamb. Kind of like, early NCAA games. Give BBHS a paycheck and maybe. BTW, you cant "christian" a field. You can however, "christen" a field. Baller99
I do hope the bird come to town and we will see how they feel on the losing end of a game like it would have been for Brossart except it might only be a 30-40 point beatdown. Who cares if they lose, I'm glad they have the stones to renew the series and not duck the Birds like some other 6A programs that will remain nameless. I don't know who dropped who in this series but I think the Birds and Camels should always play.

I would rather play Saturday than drive to Scott. Holy Cross plays some of their games on Thursday and I believe NCC plays every home game on Saturday. The Newport-to-NCC Relationship is almost identical. They don't seem to have a problem.
Baller99
Because it is a 1A school that is not very good playing a 6A school that would beat them like a tied up goat. Getting beat by 70 points is not good for anyone except the offensive stats for the Winning team.
Baller99
Using the field for Brossart games would be great but playing Campbell on their opening night to get killed not so great.
jbrune20
I dont understand how BBHS should be allowed to use the field bc they pay taxes. They have the option to attend CCHS if they want to play football there. Maybe BBHS should have had a better plan before starting a program

Its called a community you fool and its about the kids. Not selfish parents who think they should get to hoard all the goods. It's their community as well and their money helping to build that beautiful complex. Are you at all aware of the burden that Private Schools take off of Public Schools? You should want them to succeed because if everyone comes to the Public Schools, the public schools wouldn't be able to handle it. Public schools benefit greatly when students go to private schools. Its likely how some of the money is available to build that stadium. I believe it costs around 6K/year to educate a public school student. So likely Brossart students/parents are saving CC schools around 2 Million per year and that is just at the High School levels. Instead of being selfish, you should probably be grateful and try to make it as attractive as possible for the kids to stay at Brossart.

Next week Campbell County Schools will be holding their Bishop Brossart, NCC enrollment night. Be sure to check your local media outlets for more details. FTBIGBIRD
I'm a sports guy and understand the need for more gyms! But as a citizen, I understand where the guy above is coming from. As a citizen, the second gym appears to be more of a luxery than a necessity. The argument of more students doesn't really apply when talking about the sports programs. You still have the same number of teams and number of participants on those teams as anyone. Most schools get by with one gym (or multiple gyms in their district) just fine. So looking at it from that angle, a taxpayer could see a second gym as a luxery. Highlands, Newport, NCC, Brossart, Silver Grove, Dayton, Bellevue all have one gym with the same amount of teams and participants on those teams and they all get by just fine. Again, I coach AAU basketball, so I wish they would build a thousand gyms! But I think the other guy has a point when looking at it from his perspective. Incorrect. Highlands has a small gym which we used to refer to it as the girl's gym because their locker room was in it. Now it's a multipurpose room for cheerleading and dance. Not sure if gym classes still use it. There are many more programs now and more kids involved that do necessitate a 2nd gym or at least a multipurpose room for pretty much any High School. How many people have coached and fought over gym time with other sports programs, especially in the winter months?
