I agree with you Clyde. It is his opinion and he does have privy info apparently, but his credibility went way south talking about Mooney/Elder and didn't know the record of CovCath. We can chalk him up to a hater since his argument is it is a bad hire. 2 years on a job and losing to those good teams does not necessary mean a bad coach. There are many coaches that are good but didn't fit into a program for some reason or another. Bellichek didn't exactly work out in Cleveland.

I notice that CCH is no longer playing Elder or Mooney, could that possibly be why their record is better now? I would imagine that CCH would be an underdog every single year that they would play either Elder or Mooney. Mooney being a smaller school has nothing to do with it. Mooney would beat CCH 9 out of 10 times...perhaps 10 out of 10 times.

He is asking that if current CC coach left, would a return from DB be welcomed. I think not. DB is an average at best big school coach. Small school coaching, like he did at Finneytown, is simple. Recruit your building and get two dynamite assistants and you will win. Big school is much deeper than that and DB doesn't strike me as having those intangibles. Safe hire, not a good hire. Dixie had to have better names with better track records apply for job. If anyone reading is interested in the job, get a teaching job at Dixie within the next 3 years when the position becomes open again.

 

He seems to be about the only coach who ever won at Finneytown. You make an ignorant statement when you say that at a small school all you have to do is hire two good asst's and you will win. There are a lot of small schools that aren't winning that would love to talk to you about their coaching job if you know how simple it is to turn it around!

Hmm, I too know a guy that graduated from Cincinnati St. Xavier. Go on with your point...

. The problem he ran into at CovCath was he was expected to win immediately and pickup right where Rodenberg left off and when he didnt the PHM took matters into their own hands.

Totally different set of circumstances at Dixie with alot more patience and understanding.

I agree with you, we do disagree on Brossart being a bad hire. I have also watched Ohio football for many years and personally watched Mooney play on multiple occaisons. Cov. Cath is not in the same ballpark as Mooney. Mooney opened the season this year by beating Canton McKinley. I doubt that CCH would have done the same!

Congrats to Coach Brossart. Maybe we will see him on BGP again someday...

He was always the most enthusiastic coach on the sideline. I think the earliest indicator will be what he does with the staff. He needs a defensive coordinator and special teams coach, so will he go outside or promote from within? I'm also curious to see how the current freshman improve between now and their senior years under Brossart. That was always a knock on Spritzky as the players never really seemed to progress over the years.

Well, the Dixie supporters can take either side of that. But if you are a positive thinking person, there is Brossart's chance to shake things up and make big changes like many people are hoping. He brings in his own staff who will be supportive of how he wants the program run and make any program changes he feels are needed.

Very very sorry to see that coach Vaughn will not be on the sidelines. I know he was close with all the boys he coached for many years and I dare say most if not all felt the same about him. I know my son did.
