Well seeing as the HC position will never be open to him again, it's kind of a stupid question. Like I said, CovCath wasn't a good fit for him. There is no denying that he was facing an up hill struggle from the start. I don't know why you don't think he can do a decent job at Dixie. Can you be specific as to why? Did you work with him or play for him? Just curious.

A good HC can get players to play the positions to make the team a success. He obviously doesn't resonate with kids. Injuries or not CC should win minimal 6 games per year. Really 7-8. Plus the way this season occurred on and off field, a serious AD would not have seriously considered anyone from previous staff. Dixie had a chance to make a statement and let the state know they are a serious competitor in 6A. Instead, Dixie hired a retread, why because he was in the building? I just don't like the hire as a fan of hs sports.

Every program goes thru down years. However, DBs run at CC seemed like a never-ending bear market, so the school got rid of him and now all of a sudden are competing with their rivals again in Wirths second year. I understand that BGP tries to keep negativity to a minimal, but jeez Louise, truth hurts. Nice man doesn't equate to good coach all the time. Inner honesty is in order. The thing many hs coaches fail to answer: is it about the HC or about the work. If it is about the work, then it will be about teaching and coaching. If it is about some other stuff a coach is in to such as using the school as a steppingstone, or just wanting a stipend to maintain a standard of living, or whatever else but the kids, then that is what will resonate with his players and staff. If DB wins two playoff games in any of the three years I am suggesting he will be there before being canned, I will personally write the man a letter of apology and post it on here.

Think about it this way, the 2005 and 2006 teams had some serious studs and had outstanding senior leadership. The 2007 and 2008 teams had some good players, but the talent level was way, way down. Trust me, there was a BIG difference in talent across the board.

I believe Brossart coached two years there and went 5-7 both years. And if you want to start talking about ugly losses, there were some of those in Wirth's first two years as well.

I thought you knew what you were talking about? But no, they went 5-7 both years.

LaSalle, Elder, Louisville St. Xavier, and Highlands twice made up five of the losses in his first year. The Colonels also lost to Dixie once, then beat them in the playoffs. The only "bad" loss in 2007 was a 9 point loss to Newport Catholic, who I think won State that year.

 

In his second season, four of the losses were to Cardinal Mooney, Highlands, Elder, Louisville St. Xavier.

 

Point being, more than 90% of schools in Kentucky would have lost those games as well.

And I just looked this up: Elder made it to the Ohio Division I State Championship that year. Cardinal Mooney lost in the playoffs to a State Championship team. But I guess most KY teams would have beaten them, right?

I didn't know kids that go to Elder were genetically slower than the rest of the GCL South Schools. And Cardinal Mooney is not that much smaller than CCH.
