Great hire for Dixie. Dixie has a great draw of athletes and Brossart will only build on that and make the kids want to play for him. Congrats to Coach Brossart!

The thing I would like about this if I were a Dixie fan is that it is now or never time for Brossart. If he doesn't succeed in this job, he likely will never be a head coach again. I would be hoping for the "Belichick effect". Brossart has seen some success and he has seen tough times. He has worked under a good man and learned during the past couple of years at Dixie and has faced other challenges in that time. He is battle tested and experienced. And now it is time to make it happen. He should have the knowledge about what it takes to win and be driven to succeed. As I said above, I am happy to see him get this opportunity. Good luck to Coach Brossart and the Dixie program.

Good luck coach, know Dixie can put up a better showing against the top dogs. Just don't think he can do it. Career at Finneytown did not merit the CovCath job, but somehow he got it. Record at CC doesn't merit Dixie job. Maybe he does experience a Belichek effect. I just don't see it in him. Some people just don't give you that feeling of being special enough. He is not 6A special IMO.

Not a fan of this hire. If you have been around this program for a few years, anyone would agree it needs some sort of an awakening. It's obvious to me Dixie "settled". He's already a teacher at the school and I believe that factored in the hiring. As far as his statement, "no sweeping changes", is he kidding? The program is desperate for some change. Sorry, this was a "comfortable" choice, one that doesn't mix things up and keeps status quo. I hope I'm dead wrong, I really do. But I bet I'm not.

Realistically, Dave Brossart isn't a bad coach. The problem that he ran into at CovCath was that it wasn't a very good fit for him. He was expected to win right away like Rodenburg had done. When that didn't happen, people freaked out. What everyone didn't understand is that Rodenburg had more horses to work with. Another thing that people looking at the situation may not have known or remembered was that CovCath had a few devastating injuries heading into Dave's first season. I think had those key players not gotten hurt, the Colonels would have probably had a winning record in his first season (not that it really matters because Highlands was still clearly the better team that year). Another problem that he ran into was that some athletes weren't willing to play different positions, And for the most part the senior leadership wasn't what it had been the past few seasons. Lastly, the players didn't really buy into what coach Brossart was selling, which is huge.

Is he going to be an offensive wizard? No, but What Dixie gets is a guy that cares about the kids and will have them working their butts off. I can almost guarantee that. I would be surprised if he doesn't have success at Dixie.

Recruit your building and get two dynamite assistants and you will win. Big school is much deeper than that and DB doesn't strike me as having those intangibles. Safe hire, not a good hire. Now you give him a public school with wavering participation...Dixie will continue its middling ways with him. He is the Dick Lebeau, or Marvin Lewis of coaching. Great coordinator type but head coaching is too big a burden for him.
