Not disturbing to me. Set realistic goals , acheive them , then set your sites on the state title. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Congrats to Coach Brossart. He's a good guy and I think he'll have more success with the Red Colonels. Dixie fans can be assured that he'll have the boys working their tails off.

I am interested to here from those that said Dixie needed changes. He said in the article that he was goign to keep doing the things they had been doing and that he was not going to bring sweeping change. How does everyone feel about that? (not taking sides, just interested to here the thoughts)

 

Since you asked: my guess, and yes it's just a guess, is that Coach Brossart had to be diplomatic in his comments to the press. If he said that sweeping changes needed to be made ASAP to the program, he's publicly throwing Spritzky under the bus for not doing what was needed. From what I know about Coach Brossart, he's not the type of person to do that. I think to be fair to him, we all should sit back and observe what if any changes are made and not base any judgements or opinions on what was reported in the newspaper.

If history repeats itself then I think he will have plenty of support and time to improve their current position as a program. I truly believe that Tom did an admirable job considering some tough circumstances over the yrs. Tom had more good yrs then bad, and as a whole he left that program in better shape than when he inherited it some 15 yrs ago.

I dont think that Coach B will be pressued for immediate success and results like he was at CovCath. The problem he ran into at CovCath was he was expected to win immediately and pickup right where Rodenberg left off and when he didnt the PHM took matters into their own hands.

Totally different set of circumstances at Dixie with alot more patience and understanding.

Every coach makes changes. Dixie doesn't need "sweeping changes." It needs a new spark. There will certainly be changes.

 

You must not have an ear in this program, as you do in the Ryle program. The whole culture of the Dixie program needs changes as it was evident from underachieving seasons along with the off the field problems. I am not sure hiring an in-house guy is what they need but good look to them never-the-less.

Considering 3 of the total losses each yr came to the hands of Highlands twice and CovCath once then I think Tom did pretty darn good.

Throw Highlands and CovCath on SK schedule every yr for the fun of it and SK has more below .500 seasons then above. Just sayn.................

Dixie didnt have a choice or a chance to dodge the big boys like others have and the results were losses, some big margins some not so big, but at the end of the day lossess. Lets not turn this into an SK thread because it is about Coach Brossart as you suggested. ...........

My guess is Dixie will rescheduel Highlands and keep CovCath, BW and NewCath on their schedule.

This is much like what Ryle did when they agreed to schedule Highlands twice for those few yrs, to be the best you must beat the best.

I think Coach B and Dixie want to be the best.:thumb:

I think and hope he'll be good for the Dixie program. I think it's critical that everyone associated with Dixie football give their total support to Coach Brossart, regardless of whether they agreed or disagreed with the hire, and that they give him a reasonable amount of time to have the type of success Dixie can enjoy.
