We could argue about whether he would have done better with a better team (offensive line) until we're blue in the face, won't change anything. The point is, he wouldn't have been drafted any higher had he went to USC, nor is there proof he would have lasted longer had he gone there either. I'm also not going to concede picking USC, Alabama, Ohio State, ..., etc. over UK a no brainer, either. The level of education is the same. The problem with going to a big time program is getting playing time. It gets crowed at the top. Just because one is offered, doesn't mean they'll see the field. If I'm a top 100 player, I'm going to a big time program...end of story. It's that way for 99% of people. UK is simply not a big time program and cannot pretend to be. They can't get the type of players USC, Alabame and OSU can. The only way UK is getting a top 100 player is if they have wanted to play in Lexington since they were a day old. There's nothing wrong with going to the 'hometown' team. But just because a guy is from Boyle County doesn't mean UK 'lost out' on him. They never had a chance...

January 18, 201214 yr Success in the NFL isn't better? He was the #1 draft pick. What else could UK have done for him--made him the uber #1 pick? The top pick in the draft is as good as you can do. His success in the NFL had nothing to do with his time at UK and everything to do with the situation that he went into. The Browns were an expansion team starting from scratch. His overall numbers were not that bad, he ended up suffering arm injuries playing behind a bad offensive line with no running game and a converted quarterback as his #1 receiver. That had nothing to do with where he played in college.

At USC you're QB at one of the most prestigous football programs in the country, in So Cal, around beautiful bikini-clad coeds all year round, and are treated like a God. Ask Randall Cobb how much fame you get as a football Wildcat. Seems to me if you're an 18 year old kid the decision is simple.
