Anthony Wales to UL

Featured Replies

That is not the point I am trying to make, UK to be good needs to keep these kids, Chuck Smith was responsible for recruiting him and selling him on UK and apparently he didn't, as Nord hasn't done good recruiting Louisville

When you're selling UK against USC, you don't have much to talk about...

Worked out real well for Tim Couch

Yeah it did actually#1 draft pick if not mistaken

Whether USC can offer the moon is besides the point, UK will never be good if they can't keep that type of talent. Plus if you are good enough, regardless if you go to big bad USC over KY, the scouts will find you. Yes Chuck Smith should be able to recruit Boyle kids whether he coached them or not.

We'll agree to disagree. It'd be a lot different if they played for Chuck Smith but they didn't.

So Patrick Towels is stupid, you mean Tim Couch is stupid. Kurt Barber went to USC and didn't amount to much

I thought Towles grew up wanting to be a Wildcat. Neither Hester nor Dawson did. Obviously Wales didn't either.

Yeah it did actually#1 draft pick if not mistaken

And now he is...? That's what I thought. No one knows.

Exactly.

UK vs Oregon, UT, USC, UL and Central Florida=bad news for UK.

And now he is...? That's what I thought. No one knows.

What does that have to do with anything, he chose ky over every school in America, including USC, you said no one would do that. What is he doing now, he ain't got to do nothing, he had #1 draft pick money.

You should probably pay more attention to my posts. I never said no one would do that. I said they'd be stupid to do it, and I stand by that. Maybe Tim Couch would have had success in the NFL if he played in a system where he learned how to play in the league. He didn't get that at UK.

That's certainly not UK's fault!

The Browns were horrible then, they're still horrible. Couch was getting hit more than any QB in the league and led the league in times sacked numerous times. No talent around him and absolutely no help. The Browns still stink, I mean they're no better now 10 years after Couch than they were with him. The time Cleveland got through with him he was already so beat up he just wasn't the same. Numerous elbow surgeries, just couldn't ever get it right again.

Couch ended up doing quite well for himself coming to Kentucky. Rejuvenated a fan base and made it to bowl games when Kentucky wasn't making bowl games. Earned the right to be #1 draft pick, banked his money intelligently and now has his nice little media job married to his nice little playboy playmate of the year wife. I would say going to UK worked out pretty well for him.

Couch and Towles both grew up wanting to be Wildcats. It makes a huge difference.

Think some more. Tim is a game analyst for Fox Sports South and an analyst on SEC Gridiron Live. http://www.foxsportssouth.com/pages/secgil_talent_couch

However, where he ended up AFTER his NFL days has absolutely nothing to do with where he went to college. The point is, he was the first pick in the draft. He couldn't have done better, period.

Success in the NFL isn't better?

Stupid to do it, well Tim Coch did it and you think he is stupid for picking uk. He did have success, he took the pathetic browns to the playoffs and took some severe beatings along the way

Poor guy

One has nothing to do with the other. We could argue about whether he would have done better with a better team (offensive line) until we're blue in the face, won't change anything. The point is, he wouldn't have been drafted any higher had he went to USC, nor is there proof he would have lasted longer had he gone there either.

I'm also not going to concede picking USC, Alabama, Ohio State, ..., etc. over UK a no brainer, either. The level of education is the same. The problem with going to a big time program is getting playing time. It gets crowed at the top. Just because one is offered, doesn't mean they'll see the field.
