Just doing a team-by-team comparison seems to bear that out: OUT West Virginia Pittsburgh Syracuse IN Boise State Houston Southern Methodist San Diego State Central Florida Losing WVU hurts, but Boise State is a more than adequate replacement from a football perspective. Houston is fairly comparable to the perpetually underwhelming Pitt over the last 5-6 years. And Syracuse... is still Syracuse. I guess. But do not be prisoner of the moment on Houston. They had a great season with a pro prospect at QB who will no longer be there. The year before they went 5-7 and normally hover around the 7 or 8 win mark in Conference USA. I would take the underwhelming Pitt over Houston and not think twice. With the large base they should be better than they are. If anything, Houston has been the Pittsburgh of Conference USA.

January 19, 201214 yr "Swamp"... I know of a few of these that are not correct. That's fine. Feel free to correct them. The day I'm perfect, you people are in trouble. I didn't do this off the top of my head, though. I used Rivals and tried to make sure the players were offered (as indicated by Rivals), not just shown interest in. That's the only documentation I could find going back more than a few years (and in limited time). I know no other way of determining who was offered by whom without knowing those players involved personally.

UL has no business in the SEC. Missouri is not a top 10 football or basketball school. Just because they have ascended to that ranking within the past years does not make them that. A&M?? Just another SEC middle of the road team. The addition of those two schools has done nothing for strengthening the conference. Just because there are more teams, it does not make it stronger. Now you could argue their recruiting bases (midwest and Texas, respectively) may now be enhanced leading to a greater product. That is plausible.
January 19, 201214 yr I disagree, Missouri has always been good and yes as of lately they have gotten better. TX A/M is a football school and will do very good in the SEC in a few years when they learn to play SEC football, they already have the speed.
