Holmes/Holy Cross Postponed

Featured Replies

The game was postponed due to moisture on the floor after 1 quarter. HC was up 15-11. It was going to be a good one, however, you couldn't really judge much because kids were slipping a lot. There really was no other choice but to postpone. 2-3 times kids took hard falls. They said the make up date was TBD.

Seems like an ongoing issue. What would fix this problem?

Obviously some type of ventilation, I'm clueless how to do that, though. The girls game at 6:00 was fine and it was packed. They had to turn people away foor the boys game. Maybe only playing one game, it's unlikely they can get it fixed this season. That is the hottest gym I've ever been in.

That gym is hot. You are spot on.

Usually happens when it packed with warmer weather, todays mild temps didn't help. Good call on postponing the game, not worth the risks.

Thanks for starting this thread. When I found out the game was called, I closed the update thread.

NCC occasionally has this problem as well on warm winter nights. I was at a game years ago that was cancelled one minute into the 2nd half.

How do they restart the game? From scratch?

Good question. Might have to pull out the rulebook to see if it's addressed.

I'd vote for starting over.

Game will be picked up at the point they left off. Start of 2nd quarter Holy Cross up 15-11.

When?

When?

Announced they would have to figure out a date and time.

That's one of the games in this week's NKY contest. If it's not made up over the weekend, we will have to figure out how to handle it in terms of awarding points.

Why even bother playing this rivalry at HC ever? Just play it at Holmes every year and it won't be so hot, no slick floor and no turning away paying fans due to lack of seating...Its not like playing it at Holmes gives Holmes an unfair home court advantage every year, the Fieldhouse is a comfortable gym...It would be similar I guess to Brossart and Cc playing every year at Cc Middle school which I believe they do, Brossart would never be able to accommodate all the fans ...Even without the slick floor everytime these to go at it at HC you know that it will be extremely hot and uncomfortable for the fans and probably the players as well and fans that want to see the game wont be able too...I love HCs gym but not for a game that draws the crowd that this one does...it just stinks I left early from work for this game and rushed to get there all for nothing, im done whining now:lol:
