Bengals 23 Cardinals 16

^ It is all about the season tickets. People invested a lot of money into season tickets/seat licenses with the new stadium and that was a big factor in the sellouts. With the 4 win season last year, people bailed out and they are not going to come back in easily.

As to your statements about success, when was the last time the Bengals WON a playoff game? People are fed up with the mediocrity and are not going to invest money in tight economic times. It will be an uphill battle and take multiple years of playoff appearances to get those season ticket holders back.

This area is full of front runners and fair weathered fans. That's a fact.

The paper said today, that all theree have to lose for the Bengals to have a chance, should the Ravens beat them.

Dead wrong. The Bengals are in with a) a win over the Ravens Sunday, or b) a Jets loss @Miami AND a Raiders or Broncos loss. So if the Jets lose at 1:00 PM Sunday, all the Bengals have to have happen is either the Chiefs to win against Denver or the Chargers to beat the Raiders.

Right and wrong. Right about the season tickets, wrong about it being because of the new stadium. Even after the new stadium the games were usually blacked out unless Pittsburgh or Cleveland was in town. The Bengals started selling out games starting in 2003 and didn't have a blackout again until last year. The reason is because people believed in the team and felt like they would do well. This year people felt like they would suck and it would be like the 90's again so they gave their season tickets up. A lot of those same people are now being hard headed and not wanting to admit they were wrong about this team, and think that by not going that supports their decision not to renew. Things have not been horrible here since 2003, yes they have not been at a Super Bowl level, but not horrible like the 90's. They been a middle of the pack team since 2003, and have more playoff appearances than probably half the teams in the NFL if they make it this year since 2003. People need to stop talking about the last 20 years. If this team makes the playoffs, then anything is possible. You say people want a winner, well the best way to help get this team to that point is by supporting them and that starts this Sunday!

I been telling people that since the game ended last week. I don't know how all the media people messed it up so bad, because it really was not that complicated to figure out. All the sports media people around here were giving the wrong scenarios and ESPN as well.

I don't disagree with what you are saying; however, it doesn't have to be that way, particularly for THIS game. The fans left because there was not a winning product on the field. THIS year, there is a winning product on the field. A win on THIS Sunday puts the Bengals in the playoffs. I'm not suggesting that people sign up today for season tickets for next year. If you are a Bengals fan buy tickets for THIS Sunday's game. Bengals get in the playoffs and who knows what will happen. Maybe they win a playoff game or two. For a young team with a lot of talent returning next year and some good draft spots, making the playoffs would be invaluable for next year when I expect them to be even better than last year. If fans want to help make that happen, buy tickets and attend THIS week's game.

That explains why they sold out for almost 10 years straight with 2 winning season in that time.

True! However most fans during those years also felt like going into each one of those years that the team would do really well. The only year people had some doubts really was 2009 after winning only 4 games. Then they came out and swept the Ravens, and Steelers and made people stay on board. Before this year people thought the team was going to go back to the days of the 90's and be the laughing stock of the league and just horrible so they gave up on them. People said they wanted changes so they could have a good football team. Well changes aren't going to come, but what we do have is a good football which is what people wanted. So there is no reason for people not to come to this game and support this team. This years team is what we all been wanting, and its a young team with a very bright future!

Does anyone know how many seats are available?

Again. This isn't a good football team. This is a team that has a few good young players that has been extremely lucky that not only has their schedule been terrible they also arent playing teams starting QB's. I hope they get the win Sunday but it doesn't change why people don't go. They're tired of Mike Brown not having a GM or a scouting staff of non family members. This is a very lucky 9 win team that will come back to reality when they play a better schedule next year. The funny thing is if they can beat Flacco (who's average) at home in a must win game they get a 3rd string QB in the playoffs in a very winnable game.

They sold out for almost 10 years because:

1. They had a brand new stadium and people were excited. How many straight sellouts did Cleveland have when they opened Jacobs Field?

2. People had much more disposable income before the economic meltdown.

3. People were excited about getting Carson Palmer. Thought he would be the savior.

4. Lots of corporate money has left. Companies just can't justify these type of expenditures any longer.

Things went south with the team when Palmer got hurt and people started to realize he was not going to take them to the promise land and they began to jump off the band wagon. The economy also went south and made it easier for people to bash Mike Brown and his franchise. I stand by my original statement. I have lived here all my life and have witnessed it many times over. People love a winner. WHO DEY!

Name a fan base in the entire country besides those weirdos that like the Cubs that aren't fair wearer fans. In any pro sport if any team would have zero playoff wins and 2 appearances in twenty plus years they aren't going to sell every ticket.

I knew the economy was a factor, just didn't realize to what extent. The half price ticket sale is having a really nice response. I got a couple for a Buddy today and it's almost sold out. I predict the game will be a sellout.

And you would be wrong again. 6 teams make the playoffs in the whole AFC that is it. When you look around the AFC do you see many teams out there that you would consider better than the Bengals besides the teams that have wrapped up playoff spots? I know I sure don't. You know why you don't see that, its because all those other teams not only have lost to the good teams, but also lost to teams that they should have beaten. I mean I sure didn't hear people cut the Bengals in slack for winning only 4 games last year when they played the toughest schedule in the NFL. It was just about how terrible they were. So how is it that people can say a team sucks when they play the hardest schedule, but if they play an easier schedule still say they are not that good?

If the Bengals end up making the playoffs then they were a good team and no reason to think otherwise. Which by the way that horrible Bengals schedule you talk about is not as bad as you make it seem. After next week the Bengals could have possibly played 7 of their 16 games against playoff teams. Then another three games against taems at around .500 in Seattle, Arizona, and Tennesee. That is not a top 5 schedule, but lets not act like every game was an easy game. Especially considering some of the top teams in the league lost to these so called easy teams the Bengals have beaten. Yes the Bengals have failed to beat the top teams, but besides one game they have not looked horrible against those teams either. If they make the playoffs then they are one of the best 6 teams in the AFC, and did that while playing in arguably the toughest division in football. There is no way you can say they were not a good team. Your seriously as bad as Mal use to be. If a team is a top 6 team in a coference they are a good team. And it's not like you can find someone in the conference who didn't make it that you can make a good argument to say they were better.
