December 29, 201114 yr I turned down free tickets the last 2 weeks to the games. You should have taken them and given them to me then! Haha. I been to 6 games this year, I have paid for 4 of the games and gone for free for two of the games. It was worth every penny for me to go to the games too, because it is fun to cheer this young Bengals team. The way they play is not a way I have seen Bengal teams play really. It is really refreshing seeing it.
December 29, 201114 yr I just the fans were so wrong and they just can't admit it. They said trade Palmer early. They were wrong. Mike played it perfect. They said fire Marvin. They were wrong. They said Gruden was a terrible hire. Wrong again. They said don't use the 4th pick on a WR. Very wrong. They said Dalton was a terrible pick. Draft Mallett instead. Wrong again. They said the Bengals would be terrible and would be lucky to win 3-4 games. Wrong again. Worse economic times?? The economy is in shambles. Don't be fooled. We agree to disagree. I say NO WAY they sell out without the BOGO offer. Mike Brown has made some great moves to set this team well into the future. Like I have said many times, I root for the players on the field busting their tails. Can't wait for the game Sunday. WHO DEY! What kind of Bengals fans do you talk to? None said Gruden was a bad hire. None said "don't take Green". None said Dalton was a terrible pick. Lewis is still there because he's a yes man and will do whatever Mikey boy tells him to do. He's proven time and time again that he is not a good in-game coach. You're correct. They don't sell out without the offer. How pathetic is that that the fans HATE Brown so much because of how inept he is as an owner that they won't even come to see a team needing a win to make the postseason. The article is absolutely perfect. Mike Brown had to offer basically free tickets to get people in the stadium. It's not because of the economy. The economy was just as bad 3-4 years ago. It's because people are sick and tired of Brown's ownership, that they'd rather sit at home and NOT watch the team fight for the postseason than give that man their money. http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?218744-NFL-Draft-Round-1-Updates.../page4&highlight=2011+nfl+draft http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?218727-Bengals-Draft-Plan/page3 http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?215740-Bengals-reportedly-hire-new-offensive-coordinator&highlight=jay+gruden I guess you are just making these things up not really sure where its' coming from. He was right on some things, and some things I agree that I don't know where he came up with them from. He was right most people were wanting Marvin gone, and not happy he was brought back. Most people said Brown was stupid for not trading Palmer early, because they thought his trade value would go down. They either said that or don't trade him at all and make him stay retired. Before the draft a lot of people were not wanting them to get AJ Green, however when they drafted him most people did seem happy with it. Which I think a lot of it had to do with that we still got a QB with our next pick in Dalton. Which I agree most people were happy we got Dalton. I know some fans on the radio were not happy, however for the most part fans liked Dalton. As for Gruden most people liked Gruden, well except for SSC who decided Gruden was a bad hire because players were able to learn his playbook haha. However he was right that most people thought the bengals would suck. So about he got about half of the things he said right, the other half I agree that I don't know where he came up with that stuff from.
December 29, 201114 yr No, that's the point. If they had a competent owner fans hadn't grown to disdain the team wouldn't have to literally give tickets away to sell out an effective playoff game. They've had season long sellouts during miserable seasons of ineptitude and during worse economic years. Fans have slowly begun to realize Brown is the problem over the last couple of years and it came to a head this summer with the Palmer fiasco and Brown's blase attitude about the team - planning for rookies to shoulder your offense is rarely as successful as it was this year. Just like the article said, it's the ultimate catch-22 for fans: support a young team that's doing well, and you support Brown; sit at home to make a point, and miss watching your favorite team. After years of the same garbage I think fans are beginning to err toward the latter. I think you just want to call anyone who doesn't share your undying commitment to Mike Brown a "fair weather" fan, and it just isn't the case. Um for the bolded part what season did they have season long sell outs for miserable seasons? They rarely sold out games until they started winning in 2003 starting with the Chiefs game, and that is what started the long sell out streak. Every year most people had hope that the Bengals would have good years during those years too. Only bad year that they sold out all year long was 2008, the year Palmer got hurt. They still sold out though only because they had so many season ticket holders, every game was basically a sell out before the season. So no this team did not sell out in years where people thought they would be miserable. This is the first year since the 90's and early 2000's that people thought they would be terrible, and hence the reason why so many season ticket holders gave up their seats. And its season tickets that basically determine if games well sell out. If people would have thought this years team would have done what it has done, I guarntee a lot of people would have kept their seats. They gave up on them because they felt like they would suck, and many of them still haven't bought back in because they were basically done with them. It will take making the playoffs IMO to get some of them back. Which I think attendance will then go back up some. Which then gets back into the economy because the ones with the money are the ones who gave up on the team. The people who would go, don't have the money to afford it. Which I do think Mike Brown needs to lower prices next year, however I doubt he does.
December 29, 201114 yr Your last line says it all. How STUPID it is for people not to support this team, because of Mike Brown. Even though I believe economy plays a bigger part in this than what you all believe. The people with the money who had the season tickets gave them up, because they thought this team would suck. There are plenty of people who would go if they had they money, and that shows this week. Sadly the people with the money are the ones who don't want to go anymore. I don't blame them because they put a lot of money into the team for lots of years. However I think it is stupid not to really fully get behind this team. Those same people are constantly negative about this team still, just because they don't like Mike Brown. So they dont' want to admit that Mike Brown actually has put together a good young talented team. Maybe it was just luck, however no matter how it happened. We have a good young team here, a team fighting for the playoffs. Our biggest problem with Mike Brown is because he hasn't given us winners, so we have won now. So makes no sense for people to keep being so negative about them. Enjoy the ride this year, as people know things could easily change in one year with this franchise. HT and myself were both season ticket holders for the past 5-6 years. We both gave them up, not because of lack of winning, but because we were through giving our hard-earned money to good ole' Mikey Boy. Heck, I gave them up before LAST season, AFTER the TO signing, when I thought they were going to be one of the better teams in the league. Economy and win/loss records had zero to do with it.

Heck, I gave them up before LAST season, AFTER the TO signing, when I thought they were going to be one of the better teams in the league. Economy and win/loss records had zero to do with it. I think it is a combination of both. There definitely were a mixture of people who gave them up because they got fed up with them like you did, and thats understandable considering you put money in them for years. There were probably also people who gave them up because of both the economy and Mike Brown. Money already being tight, people didn't want to use money to give to Mike Brown for a team that sucked. Just like there probably also is a lot of people who if they had the money would have went to more games this year. So money is also a reason why walk up sales were not that too. I think it was a combination of all things, and just led a perfect storm of not coming close to selling out games this year.
January 1, 201214 yr Again. This isn't a good football team. This is a team that has a few good young players that has been extremely lucky that not only has their schedule been terrible they also arent playing teams starting QB's. I hope they get the win Sunday but it doesn't change why people don't go. They're tired of Mike Brown not having a GM or a scouting staff of non family members. This is a very lucky 9 win team that will come back to reality when they play a better schedule next year. The funny thing is if they can beat Flacco (who's average) at home in a must win game they get a 3rd string QB in the playoffs in a very winnable game. Change my last sentence. They will face a 4th string QB because TJ Yates is hurt and has been replaced with Jake Delhomme. The Gals could easily win a playoff game if they can win today
