December 28, 201114 yr ^FC, what about them not being able to beat good teams are you failing to grasp? They're 1-6 against teams with winning records. That's the epitomy of an average team. They beat the bad teams and lose to the good ones. It can't be made any clearer than that. If you can't understand that, then this is a pointless conversation because you're obviously biased. Saying they are an average team is lumping them in with the Seattles, and Arizona's of the NFL. Now those are averages teams, Philly now is starting to become an average team, San Diego this year is an average team. Part of being a good team is WINNING the games that your suppose to win, and the Bengals have done that. Good teams win those games, average and bad teams find ways to lose those games. Most of those top teams they lost to, are to teams that have a legit shot to win the Super Bowl. The two winning teams that they lost to, that were tough losses were Houston and San Fran. Games that could have went either way though, and Bengals may have a shot to revenge that Houston loss. The Bengals are not a great team, which is what most of the losses have came against besides the teams I just mentioned. However they are a good team, that lost close games to other good teams in Houston and San Fran. That does not automatically make them just an average team then. It's pretty simple, just take my deal. If they make the playoffs then they are a good team, if they don't then I will agree with you all. Until theh how about we just say this, we don't know yet what kind of team this team is, and lets just let it play out and see what happens before we decide. Fair enough?

I don't get it at all. I'm saying they have benefited from a terrible schedule and backup or 3rd string QB's. I'm not saying they're terrible. I thought they would win 4 or 5 games but they've proven me wrong. I still think part of the reason they're on 9 now is because Manning didn't play this year. Seattle started a backup, Arizona did as well, and the Rams used a 3rd teamer. I would be willing to wager that the Bengals have played the worst QB's of any team in the last 5 years. They did a great job taking advantage of that, but to dismiss that as a reason for winning some games is a little off.
December 28, 201114 yr I think what he's saying because I am too is Seattle and Arizona are a little below average.
December 28, 201114 yr I think what he's saying because I am too is Seattle and Arizona are a little below average. Seattle and Arizona are not average football teams. :thumb:
December 28, 201114 yr If Doucet doesn't fall down this score would read differently. If Arizona is a little below average than the Bengals are on that level or slightly higher. They got lucky Early Doucet fell down when he was WIDE open for a game tying touchdown.
December 28, 201114 yr http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/16625802/bengals-problem-isnt-shortage-of-fans-its-the-owner CINCINNATI -- The Bengals were giving away tickets this week, but not because they're generous. Believe me, it wasn't that. They gave away tickets to Sunday's finale against Baltimore -- among the most important regular-season games in franchise history -- because they couldn't sell them. Because people around here didn't want to go. The announced attendance at Paul Brown Stadium this season has hovered around 42,000, less than two-thirds capacity, but that's tickets sold, not fannies in seats. Thousands of paying customers have been staying away each week, and not to watch it on television. Every game but one has been blacked out locally, the exception being Pittsburgh's visit Nov. 13, when Steelers fans filled the place. This week, with a playoff spot at stake, the Bengals tried to keep Baltimore's fans away by offering a giveaway promotion to season-ticket holders: Buy one, get one free. And it worked, I guess. A sellout for Sunday has beeen announced. In other towns, though, I imagine they're laughing at us in Cincinnati. In other towns, they don't know. They can't. In other towns, they don't have Mike Brown playing puppet-master to their NFL team, their city, their reputation, their heart. Absolutely perfect.
December 28, 201114 yr ^Article is garbage. Couldn't sell them at full price and obviously sold out with a bogo offer. If people were staying away due to Mike Brown, they would stay away regardless of the price of admission. Economy stinks, bogo made going affordable for alot of folks who normally could not afford it.

December 28, 201114 yr The economy has stunk for three or four years now. Do you honestly believe they sellout without the BOGO offer?
December 28, 201114 yr Do you honestly believe they sellout without the BOGO offer? No, that's the point. If they had a competent owner fans hadn't grown to disdain the team wouldn't have to literally give tickets away to sell out an effective playoff game. They've had season long sellouts during miserable seasons of ineptitude and during worse economic years. Fans have slowly begun to realize Brown is the problem over the last couple of years and it came to a head this summer with the Palmer fiasco and Brown's blase attitude about the team - planning for rookies to shoulder your offense is rarely as successful as it was this year. Just like the article said, it's the ultimate catch-22 for fans: support a young team that's doing well, and you support Brown; sit at home to make a point, and miss watching your favorite team. After years of the same garbage I think fans are beginning to err toward the latter. I think you just want to call anyone who doesn't share your undying commitment to Mike Brown a "fair weather" fan, and it just isn't the case.
December 29, 201114 yr I just the fans were so wrong and they just can't admit it. They said trade Palmer early. They were wrong. Mike played it perfect. They said fire Marvin. They were wrong. They said Gruden was a terrible hire. Wrong again. They said don't use the 4th pick on a WR. Very wrong. They said Dalton was a terrible pick. Draft Mallett instead. Wrong again. They said the Bengals would be terrible and would be lucky to win 3-4 games. Wrong again. Worse economic times?? The economy is in shambles. Don't be fooled. We agree to disagree. I say NO WAY they sell out without the BOGO offer. Mike Brown has made some great moves to set this team well into the future. Like I have said many times, I root for the players on the field busting their tails. Can't wait for the game Sunday. WHO DEY!

None said Gruden was a bad hire. None said "don't take Green". None said Dalton was a terrible pick. Lewis is still there because he's a yes man and will do whatever Mikey boy tells him to do. He's proven time and time again that he is not a good in-game coach. You're correct. They don't sell out without the offer. How pathetic is that that the fans HATE Brown so much because of how inept he is as an owner that they won't even come to see a team needing a win to make the postseason. The article is absolutely perfect. Mike Brown had to offer basically free tickets to get people in the stadium. It's not because of the economy. The economy was just as bad 3-4 years ago. It's because people are sick and tired of Brown's ownership, that they'd rather sit at home and NOT watch the team fight for the postseason than give that man their money.

It's because people are sick and tired of Brown's ownership, that they'd rather sit at home and NOT watch the team fight for the postseason than give that man their money. Your last line says it all. How STUPID it is for people not to support this team, because of Mike Brown. Even though I believe economy plays a bigger part in this than what you all believe. The people with the money who had the season tickets gave them up, because they thought this team would suck. There are plenty of people who would go if they had they money, and that shows this week. Sadly the people with the money are the ones who don't want to go anymore. I don't blame them because they put a lot of money into the team for lots of years. However I think it is stupid not to really fully get behind this team. Those same people are constantly negative about this team still, just because they don't like Mike Brown. So they dont' want to admit that Mike Brown actually has put together a good young talented team. Maybe it was just luck, however no matter how it happened. We have a good young team here, a team fighting for the playoffs. Our biggest problem with Mike Brown is because he hasn't given us winners, so we have won now. So makes no sense for people to keep being so negative about them. Enjoy the ride this year, as people know things could easily change in one year with this franchise.
