December 10, 201114 yr Still think its automatic if you leave your bench during a fight you get a suspension, so all but 10 players should get punished for that alone. If I am a coach and one of my players throws my arms away from him and/or throws me to the side to get to a player on the other team, he is gone! Hopefully there will be enough video to get every major player in the fight. If the leaving the bench rule is enforced, then both teams are going to have to forfeit a game or two or three because every player in uniform was on the floor.
December 10, 201114 yr Not saying what happened to Frease isn't sad or a horrible occurrence, but you would think a guy that big would be able to defend himself a little better. He was one punched then kicked on top of that, not a lot on the offensive end though. The way I saw it, Frease was trying to hold guys back and maybe even break things up. He had his hands out trying to push everyone back and then gets hit. Yes, in hindsight, I guess you are right. He should have thought more about defending himself than trying to break the skirmish up.

Gates basically sucker punched him from within a crowd, and then he got stomped on while he was defenseless. Gates looked like he tried to throw a few more, although they were a lot weaker since he was actually facing someone who might hit back.
December 10, 201114 yr Obviously gates is suspended for the punch and modj is for the stomp. I would thinks Lyons gets a game or two for the shove. What about holloway and the uc player who were jawing with each other? Do they get a game or two?

December 10, 201114 yr If the leaving the bench rule is enforced, then both teams are going to have to forfeit a game or two or three because every player in uniform was on the floor. If it is like the NBA, every player would not be suspended for the same game. For example, if UC had 8 players suspended two games apiece, 2 players would sit 2 games, then the following 2 games, 2 different players would sit. I don't know how it works in college.
December 10, 201114 yr Thought it was Wells not Lyons who shoved the guy? You are probably right. I was just trying to remember off hand.

He was one punched then kicked on top of that, not a lot on the offensive end though. He was also punched by a big guy. Frease never seen it coming therefore didn't have time to defend himself. Wells is the reason the fight started. Guys yap all the time in games and from time to time they square up. Very rarely does it escalate from there. Wells blindsided Guyn and shoved him to the floor which incited the whole thing. He should deservedly miss some games for that. UC has always been thought of as thugs and they didn't disappoint that image today but Xavier represented themselves very poorly and they too came off as thugs. Pretty sad reprensentation of Cincinnati on Nation Television today.
December 10, 201114 yr Thought it was Wells not Lyons who shoved the guy? It was Wells. I too agree that Gates should be done for the year. (ie. LaGarrette Blount) Edited December 10, 201114 yr by Lucky Charms

Pretty sad reprensentation of Cincinnati on Nation Television today. Wells shove was after Guyn pushed whoever he was squared off with in the face. Wasn't a punch, but more of a shove to the chin, and then Wells pushed him. Poor judgement shown on both sides, but Gates punch was uncalled for, as was the cheap shot while Frease was down. Since they can no longer be called Hugg's Thugs, maybe Cronin's Crooks??
December 10, 201114 yr Just saw it. Cronin needs to man up and suspend Gates indefintely. No different than the Blount punch at all.
