If Alabama finds a kicker they'll win by 10 like they should have the first game. Otherwise, same result.

If Alabama wins a close game, why wouldn't there be a split? LSU's loss on a neutral field would be better than the Tide's loss at home.

The BCS is garbage in my opinion. I want LSU to win so we will have an undisputed champion. Everyone can say they got it right but how does everyone know that Alabama is better than Oklahoma State since they have not played. People are going to complain no matter what the outcome was because this system stinks. It always has and it always will. What is Michigan State's reward for making the Big Ten Title game and winning their division, the Outback Bowl. While a team they beat, Michigan, was picked to play in a BCS game.

To me it's simple, you shouldn't get to play for a title if you're not good enough to win your home games. Simple as that.

I am excited. It will be a great game. I look for more points to be scored this time around. They have a month to only work on beating each other. There will be plays made on both sides of the ball. This will not be a boring game.

Bama got to sit at home and watch their way into a BCS title while LSU had to play another week to prove what we already knew. If you can't win your conference championship, you can't win a National Championship. The system is bogus.

Regardless of where their heads were(how close were the players with the girls coach) they shouldn't have lost to Iowa State. Had they lost that game to Baylor or even a ranked team in the Big 12 and I bet they make it. IMO, to play for a title you have to beat a 6-6 Iowa State team regardless of the circumstances if the game isn't rescheduled.

I don't discount this entirely, but my argument against this is that Oklahoma State did not come out like a team in shock. They scored the first 10 points of the game, led 17-7 at the half, led 24-7 at the 11 minute mark of the third quarter. They then allowed Iowa State to dominate the rest of the game. Shock to me is when a team comes out and looks like they didn't lace up their cleats and were down 24-0 before they blinked. The reality is that the upset happened the way all upsets happen. They didn't put the team away properly, and the underdog made them pay. If you go on the road and allow that team to hang around, bad things often happen.

 

While I agree you should win your home games, I would still rate a 3 point loss at home in OT to the #1 team in the country (and ultimately still #1 and only undefeated team left) above a loss on the road in 2OT to a 6-6 team that won only two other games in their conference, neither of which won another game after losing to Iowa State. And I would rate that as better significantly.

If the goal is to pit the two best teams against each other, then the BCS got it right. Obviously, that's my opinion, but that's the BCS. I don't see how anyone could have watched these teams over the course of the season and deemed any team other than LSU better than Alabama.

 

Personally, it wouldn't have bothered me in the least at OK State leapfrogged their way into the title game. I would have enjoyed watching LSU and Alabama pound OK State and Stanford in separate bowl games. In truth, I probably would have liked that better, because as it turns out, I have virtually no interest in the OK State/Stanford matchup. But, to look at the positive, what we got is likely two good games instead of two mismatches.

 

I expect the Alabama vs. LSU game to be the most competitive BCS Title game to date. I do think a close Alabama victory results in questions about who was truly the better team. 'Bama needs to win convincingly to convince the masses, IMO. However, this is the system that is in place in college football. The system's goal is to put the top two teams on the field against each other in the championship game, and the winner of that game is the BCS Champion. Both teams are aware of this going in.

 

I do think Mike Gundy overestimated the "interest" the public had in seeing the SEC's defense against the Big 12's offense. We've already seen it more than once. They don't fare well. The Big 12 has faced the SEC three times in championship games and they've combined for 49 points. I doubt OK State's offense is as good as the group Bob Stoops lead against Florida in 2009 and they managed 14 points. And I don't think that Florida defense is as good as the current LSU defense.

 

Other than the great performance by Vince Young vs. USC when they won 41-38, the Big 12 hasn't fared well against the SEC or anyone else. Since 1998, the Big 12 has had a team in the title game 7 times. They've won two. Their points scored have been 13-14-14-19-41-14-21. That's good for just under 20 per game. Without the great Vince game, it drops to under 16 per game. The point being, nobody outside of Stillwater and the usual SEC haters truly believe OK State's offense could have stood toe-to-toe with LSU and made a game of it.

The major thing that seperates Bama and LSU is the Tigers have the playmakers. Guys like Claiborne and Honey Badger are a guarantee for a big play almost every game it seems. Bama doesn't have anything like that, and they'll be the difference IMO.
