Can't win them all, but won enough to be happy with our coach. At leastr he doesn't run away when he gets beat, and if he wins on January 9th he will have a pretty nice record. He also won in 2003, did you mention that? I didn't read everything. I only go a few lines on everyone.

2003 has nothing to do with Alabama or the current Saban. That was a decade ago. In 2003 Larry Coker was a successful coach. I'm not saying Saban isn't great, he is. But, he has more often than not, lost big games at Bama. It really can't be disputed.

Very true. Kenny Hilliard is a much different player today than what he was in the first game.

Very good point, their offense can be very good and I wish and hope the Lee plays, but he might as well wear shorts.

 

Hilliard I believe is a freshman, and the other guys are all first or second year backs. If they get a QB they will be very hard to beat. Ware/Ford/Blue/Hillard, man these guys are good. :notworthy:

OK, you win. But have a nice time watchinmg Bama in their 4th BCS bowl game and getting there is what its about. Bear once in the 60s/70s lost many bowl games, It was weird how we lost Bowl games, so you are barking up the wrong fence. We lost 13 games in ther decade of the 70s not counting bowls.

 

Bear won in 82/80/79/78/76/75/ from 1967/68/69/70/71/72/73/74/81 Thats 8 straight losses (tie in 70 with the Sooners), then in 81 to Texas. So my point you see it? A coach isn't just measured in the big games. In your eyes Bear would be what?

And still won handily. IMO, that's the biggest argument for matching up Alabama and LSU. Even on a bad day, they beat the Big 12 representative by 16 points.

I don't see why you think the AP was proving a point. They were the #1 team entering the bowl season in the AP and won their bowl over a top team, therefore they remained #1. You don't see any argument that the consensus #1 in both polls entering the bowl season that won by two TDs over the #4 team was the national champion? Three coaches went against the contractual obligation that the BCS title game winner be voted #1, and kept USC there if that tells you how people felt about it. It was basically an accepted fact that the only reason LSU was #1 in that poll was the contractual obligation. I don't know anyone that doesn't consider LSU the BCS champion, because they were, but that does not necessarily equate to national champion.

 

There is a BCS champion (which goes hand in hand with Coaches Poll champion), and there is an AP champion. They typically align, but in 2003 they did not. Do you not consider Michigan the national champion in 1997 because they won the AP vote while Nebraska won the Coaches? 1997 is one of the only reasons the BCS exists. No championship is even officially recognized by the NCAA as a college football championship.

Its getting close, all weekend there will reports and all day Monday...I really can't believe we are playing in it again so soon, From 1993 until 2006, thats a long time, I will cherish the next few days and win or lose, I'm so proud of my team. A lot of chatter out there that a lot of those with votes in the AP polls are saying unless Bama blows out LSU, we're probably looking at a split championship if Bama wins. :idunno:

Which makes sense. I mean LSU went undefeated, beat Bama at Bama, won the SEC West, won the SEC Championship, and has the most impressive resume out of anyone. If Bama barely beats them on a neutral field, why should Bama be National Champs and LSU nothing? Why does Bama get rewarded for only playing in the SEC too, not having to beat any other top teams, not even being able to win their league, or beat LSU. But only needs to win one more game to be National Champs? If there was a playoff and they worked there way through other top teams to get there, and then beat LSU in a rematch then it would be fine. However Bama did nothing to really improve their resume since they lost to LSU, they just got help from others. So I could see why they would still vote LSU #1 if it is a close game that Bama wins.

 

For the record I do think Bama wins in a close one, so it will be interesting to see those final votes in the AP.
