It's a day of basketball scrimmages at SK that raises money for a scholarship.

They were interviewing PT before the game . He was as humble as a person could be . They asked PT about going to UK and said he is going there for sure . They asked him about the O and he had nothing but high praise for his recievers and was sorry that Sheehan couldn't play. They asked about his grand father , Jim Bunning and how Pat grew up watching him. This young man is polite and down to earth as they come , and one of the best high school QB"s that I have ever seen. UK is very fortunate to have landed this outstanding young man and QB!!

 

I will be one of his biggest fans over the next 4 years. I am UK through and through. He was making some Sunday passes Friday.

IMO the MO shifted to the birds in the third quarter when the CCH db dropped a PT throw that hit him in the numbers. Then a few plays later the ball was fumbled and before two CCH players could fall on the ball, it rolled out of bounds. Highlands went on to score and the game was over.

 

Bingo...I was standing with several HHS fans who said the same thing. Would not have changed the outcome of the game but he had a catchable pass to the house to tie it at 21-21. After HHS scored again, the CCH intensity sunk.

I often wonder just how many BGP's posters actually do anything with the high school team they follow, other than maybe having a son, daughter or a neighbors kid playing on that team?

 

It's incredible being a member of a team and getting so close to the kids after being with them for months and month almost daily, that to see them cry, see and feel their hearts being broken, especially after you know the work, the blood, the bond they made with each other and then it all comes to an end, that dream........ and for the seniors to realize... it's all over.....it hurts.....

 

If you played the game as a kid you know the feeling but I can tell you it's even worse as an adult member of a team because words just aren't enough to overcome the hurt you have for them and you want the hurt to go away for these kids you have gotten so close to for so many, many months and some for years.....

 

Congrats to HHS and PT I can't wait until I get to see you on ESPN...indeed you are a class act and I will be rooting for you.

 

To the Seniors and their Parents, thank you for allowing me along for the ride, it didn't end the way we would have preferred but honestly after looking at the game films of the season past, it indeed was a great season and you have no reason to be anything but proud.

 

To the Underclassmen and their Parents, thank you too for allowing me along for the ride and now you understand what it takes to have a very, special team. Now take what you have leaned this season and remember the pain you felt at the end of the season and use that wisdom and pain to get even better next year. Start working out this week and when you get tired, or when you think you have done enough, just think about the Friday night we lost and do just a little bit more.

TOG .... you are approaching 10,000 posts on here but that has to be your best post ever. Well said!

The true CovCath Blueboys show as much Class as anyone win or lose. I too feel bad for kids when their dreams are ended so suddenly and unexpected. But after just 2 qtrs this game became clear that the outcome would not be in their favor on this nite and it would just be a reminder that lots of work is still needed. Highlands just has too many horses. CovCath, hang in there, you are close to returning to the days of glory, just not yet.

I want to give the biggest shout out to the unsung hero and probably the most least talked about player on Highlands.

#17 Chad Bowden is the heart and soul of this Highlands Defense imo. Yes, we have the Twins and they do ok on D :jump: and Carter New may be the sneakiest player in NKY even at about 60% the other nite. Note to self..........Dont pick on #7 period.

But CB is the difference on this D and opens up alot of opportunities for others. The kid is a well mannered individual who puts everyone on that team before himself and seems to be more interested in team wins then anything else.

I noticed the key that the CCH defense was looking at was Chad Bowden. When he would move up or back, it seemed that Cov Cath was changing the play. Seeing that, and how well the defense performed, he played great. Made plays. Big ups to him.

 

The defensive backs also played very well deflecting passes without interfering with the receivers. Big ups to the Birds, and look forward to # 21.

Chad, I've been told, has the highest football IQ on the team.

Good stuff TOG. I can tell you this, those kids and parents will always remember what you do for the CCH family. I remember a guy who did the same stuff for us at my High School, came to all of our football, basketball and baseball games.
