Highlands 34 Elder (OH) 29

Looks like he used his helmet as a weapon but the play transpired so quickly.......I would chalk this up as being in the wrong position at the wrong time. Very unfortunate and hope this doesn't have any lasting effects on Patrick. As an aside' date=' it was eerily ironic that an assembly was held discussing sports related concussions on C-Span yesterday. Might be something the involved parties may want to watch. Insight ch.19. I'm sure I don't need to remind everyone just how serious head trauma is over the long term. Hope he takes it slow.[/quote']

I agree with you Whackem on a couple of things and will take issue with you on a couple of others.

Taking what you said as Gospel the fact that you use your head as a weapon isn't excusable because it transpired quickly. Ask the guys in the NFL who are paying $50,000 a shot whether there is a flag thrown or not.

I think every kid injured on the football is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I think Highlands will or I at least hope they will use the Huddle version of this play to show the importance of building the neck and shoulders up to be able withstand a collision like this regardless of its illegality.

I have learned there is almost as much bad information about concussions as good information out there. Each person is different and each concussion is different.

I would say if Towles is medically cleared to play this Friday he will and I think the liklehood of that is very good.

I enjoy bantering with you Whackem!:thumb:

I wonder if it had been anyone else if there's be the uproar about the hit. Not trying to stir here, just seems that because it was PT that there is a larger outcry.
:sssh:

I was sitting in the stands near where the hit took place and thought it was a completely clean play. It WAS wrong place wrong time.

Hope Towles is okay...great win for Highlands. That's a tough call for the officials. It did look like there was holding on #76 for Highlands. Was that called?

It was not called because it wasn't a hold.

I watched the video and thought the same thing. But i'm not a Birds fan so I was a little afraid to post such slander.

It was not called because it wasn't a hold.

And so this logic would then dictate it wasn't a cheap shot on Towles, because it wasn't called either...

Nope, apples and oranges my friend! There was "NO" hold on the play on 76 and there was a hit on PT. Cheap or not. Good try though. I understand your slant though. You should of tried a different analogy.

I'm not seeing it. Ryle is essentially a meaningless game and McCoy is obviously capable of doing the job at QB. After what Compton went through last year, I'd be inclined to rest Towles for the Ryle game and possibly the first round playoff game. Then again, Dale hasn't called to ask my opinion today, so it's likely a moot point.

In a way you are right. I thought it was a clean hit on Towles as my previous post explained. As for the "hold," I didn't see where the defensive player got held and that's why it was not called. That is what my logic would dictate.

Which team do you cheer for?

Since Elder was O'fer at home this year could they change the name of the Pit to the P"0"T?

How good is Elder this year? What is their record?

2-7. Not good by their standards, but a top 5 team in KY this year.

Can Highlands play at the pit next year? And while we are at it, could Elder add more seats to the visitors side? Then, if you sell reserved seats, could you have an usher, to make sure people are sitting IN their reserved seat? After the game Friday night, it's safe to say the GCL South isn't what it's cracked up to be. I did like the twelfth man sign, but you need to add the 13th, 14th and 15th to account for the refs. I would have said Curly, Larry and Moe, but that would have been disrespectful. :D

On a side note: Saw where Mighty Moeller bit the dust again -- two in a row. In advance, I would like to welcome Moeller to the 'ville. You might want to buckle your chin-straps a little tighter than you normally do. Enjoy the ride to the 'ville. The ride home might be just a little longer! :D

I'm a Highlands fan and only a Trinity fan when they play out of state teams -- especially from the GCL South. I hope there are no injuries to either team.

Feel free to pm me. No pm's are refused!

Oh , I almost forgot CardinalsFan said you "Moeller people play dirty under the pile.":idunno: Any truth to that?

How can you determine a 2-7 team being a top 5 team in Ky?

Amazingly tough schedule. I agree with BB24.
