Wright understands how to run an offense, check out of bad plays, and make

the correct throws.

 

Mattingly can run better but that's about it.

OMG! I'm nowhere close to an expert but even my wife can see Wright calling audibles to take advantage of what the defense is showing. Mattingly may be a little better overall athlete, but that doesn't necessarily make him a better QB. Of course, had Mattingly gone to T maybe he would have developed into the starting QB there also. We will never know.

^ Don't even respond to such insane posts......when it's time to decide upon college ball, I imagine Travis will have quite a few more choices than Mattingly.

It is my guess that Quick and Hatcher will go to a school in the SEC, Big Ten,, Pac 12 or Big 12. IF UL joins the Big 12 then UL will have shot at the players.

 

With the talent that these two have , the only way U of L lands either one of these two , is if they get homesick easily . It doesn't matter what conference U of L ends up in.

I hear Hatcher and Quick are at UL today.

I think Jim was saying that it was unexpected of a St. X team. I don't think he meant it as a dig. St. X is usually very, very, very disciplined. I think he was surprised.

That's my opinion ,I think these two players have the talent to play for any college in the country.

 

When your a junior in high school (Quick) and people are talking about watching you play on Sundays , you must be a pretty special player . If U of L is his choice , that's great ,but I wouldn't hold your breath.

That's an oversimplification of Trinity's offense and Wright's talent. I'm not convinced he's a major D1 playey, maybe a mid-major. I think he's lacking some arm strength to get the ball down field, and when he does go down field it looks like he's using max effort. As to the screen pass, the real question is why couldn't X defend it better than they did. When T went trips with Quick lined up inside I think everyone in the stadium knew where the ball was going. It looked like X was in man coverage underneath and our linebackers, ends and safteys were slow to come help our DB who was getting cracked.

I disagree. I think you are underestimating Coach Strong's recruiting ability. The program is down, but it wasn't too many years ago that they had a legitimate shot at playing for a national championship. Kids that have grown up in Louisville and been a lifelong fan might want to be a part of the resurgence of UL football. Coach has shown this year a willingness to play a lot of true freshmen. If Quick and Hatcher want an opportunity to play immediately UL might be a good fit. If they want to go to say Oklahmoma and redshirt and maybe not play much until their 3rd year, then a school like Oklahoma might be a good fit. I really don't think homesickness has much to do with the decision these two will make.

When T scored its first 3rd quarter touchdown on about a 19-yard screen, I counted (on the tv replay) 4 blocks in space that helped spring Quick.

How about we stick to the topic - please - instead of theorizing on where a 16 year old may want to attend college in 2 years. Take it elsewhere.

Speaking of which - the crowd was decidedly down. From my perch - the X side looked to be (way) down. Then Again I could be wrong.
