I am happy with how the Rocks played in the second half, first half....not so much. The personal fouls on the Rocks really irked me throughout the game. I hope Beatty tore them a new one for that. That said I think X is a pretty good team this year, although it their offense rides on Mattingly's back. If he isn't doing well then their offense struggles mightily. Mattingly was very very impressive. He is a great runner and a pretty good passer.

 

I am feeling pretty good about the idea of a rematch.

I saw that as a make-up call for the PF on Quick. Both after the play was dead and not really warranted IMO.

 

I was livid with Quick for the PF called on him. It was a stupid mistake on his part that thankfully he made up for later but even so, it put the Rocks in tough position to convert.

I understand and appreciate your perspective - but respectfully disagree. IMVHO - they fulfill very different roles for their teams. Mattingly played a whale of a game. Had me concerned - first half we had no answers. He was X tonight. First 1/2 it was all him. Without him it would not have been 14-6.

 

Mr. Wright fills a completely different role. By design. He is the "Distributor." I will keep ours.

 

Great game Rocks. Agree about the stupid penalties. Surprised by X's PF's. They seemed to have "lost it." Usually better coached and taught than that. Cannot remember where they had so many.

I must say, I've been really impressed with Trinity's ability to convert on 3rd and really long this year. Tonight was a prime example. Love that when it's 3rd and 16, etc, we convert + some. I actually argued on that one with PepRock that I felt we would convert it, and he was a Debbie Downer. Thanks, Rocks, for giving me the opportunity to hear "You were right" from PepRock. Priceless. :lol:

As am I. Manual seems to be the team to beat outside of Trinity, however. As an X fan, I am looking forward to comments and comparisons after next weekend. !

I think Jim was saying that it was unexpected of a St. X team. I don't think he meant it as a dig. St. X is usually very, very, very disciplined. I think he was surprised.

I am torn on this question, Who is more upset by Trinity dominating: Public School Coaches seeing Quick-Dawkins-White-Hatcher etc. carry a team or CSAA kids thinking, if this recent trend continues like this they will not be able to play a skilled postion except maybe QB at Trinity ever again?

Be 100% honest. If you were an excellent WR would you go to X and play Glaser's system? And please don't tell me that an X fan is buying into the whole public school line of logic that we should only use players that come through the CSAA. Quite frankly until the CSAA starts playing football on a full size field I think they will be at a competitive disadvantage with the optomist and AAU leagues and I think you'll start seeing more of those kids playing in other leagues then the CSAA.

Excluding Deuce, who played in CSAA but was an Indiana kid and would have gone to Providence if he stayed near home, X has had mostly public school backs for the past 6-7 years, including now.

Also, several of their key defensive players now and in the recent past were public school kids so in no way are they any different than T in offering the opportunity to play in a good system and get a great education.

It's just that T has a group of exceptional kids right now!

Amen. As to the penalty question, C-J had it: X 6 for 63 and T 6 for 55. You could argue one penalty is one too many, but a little over 100 for both high school squads isn't bad.
