March 22, 201313 yr Are we drawing Ron Mercer comparisons here? Remember Mercer chose UK over Vandy because he would not have the pressure on him at UK with their stable of studs. Paid off well. And lest we forget Mercer was the #1 recruit that season that wasn't going pro (Kevin Garnett). Just curious about parallels. That's an interesting vantage point. A caller to KSR yesterday basically said the same thing. Wiggins doesn't like the spotlight, so it would seem UK would not be in the mix. But given the talent on next year's roster, the spotlight won't be shining solely on him. I will never forget when Mercer announced I first heard about it on our local news during the sport's segment. Man, things have certainly changed with access. I was a junior in high school when Mercer committed. I had a Current Events class in which we spent the first ten minutes of every class session giving current events for bonus points. The teacher, an avid UK fan (his son was a manager at UK during this time), shied away from sports stuff as a Current Event. The Ron Mercer commitment was an exception. :lol2:
March 22, 201313 yr UK Recruiting @WildcatRecruits Best source says staff feels "about 70%" positive on Wiggins. Got a bump as expected from JR commitment. UNC is now main competition. UK Recruiting @WildcatRecruits Expect Dominique Hawkins to be added to the team once all the schollys get cleared up.

Now if it were GT, it would hold some stock in my eyes.
March 22, 201313 yr Rex Chapman tweet from yesterday...Pay attention to the last part... Rex Chapman @rexchapman 21 Mar A reliable birdie just whispered in my ear that Cal, KP, J. Robic, Big O & Strick aren't quite finished w this '13 class. #BBNMayJustWigOut
March 22, 201313 yr Still would like to know how reliable this source is. Now if it were GT, it would hold some stock in my eyes. Apparently this guy gets most of his info from TBK's premium boards. GregNJ said that they had posted this same percentage yesterday. So in a way, it's a really good source. They've been pretty spot on thus far.
March 31, 201313 yr https://twitter.com/KSTV_Sports/status/318475524185919488 Wiggins thoughts about possibly playing for UK next season... "It would be the best college team ever...we'd win it all for sure."
April 2, 201313 yr Is Aaron Gordon going to decide today? I have a friend that says he's picking UK. I keep telling him he is not. My friend will ask "Why not?" My reply - "Because GT said so."
April 8, 201313 yr Dave Buzz Baker @buzzbaker BREAKING: Just got off the phone w/ Coach Feldhaus-Dominique Hawkins will make his college announcement 8am Wednesday at Madison Central!
April 9, 201313 yr Couple of tweets from Ben Roberts regarding Andrew Wiggins: Huntington Prep Coach Rob Fulford tells me it's "highly unlikely" Andrew Wiggins will announce his decision this weekend at Jordan game. His high school coach says Wiggins will announce decision sometime before regular signing period is over. Last day is May 15.
April 10, 201313 yr So, setting aside where this class ranks in terms of the greatest recruiting classes of all-time, with Hawkins commitment is this the largest recruiting class in UK history? Apologies if this has been addressed in the thread before, but it is 25 pages at this point.

Apologies if this has been addressed in the thread before, but it is 25 pages at this point. In recent history if not all time, Yes. I recall that it was common place to have as many as 5 or more during the "Freshman Team" days before '73. A good question is: Will this group surpass other storied classes? From my memory banks: 1972: Kevin Grevey, Jimmie Dan Conner, Mike Flynn, Bob Guyette, Jerry Hale, G.J. Smith 1975: Jack Givens, Rick Robey, Mike Phillips, James Lee, Dan Hall 1980: Sam Bowie, Dirk Minnifield, Charles Hurt, Derrick Hord, Tom Heitz 1993: Roderick Rhodes, Tony Delk, Walter McCarty, Jared Prickett I can't recall any class this large in number.
April 10, 201313 yr Think of what is to come in the next years. Seems like we have a few 3-4 year guys on the roster. I think Cal learned from this year and is hedging for future years to come.
