Watching the "Catching Hell" documentary on ESPN about Buckner and Bartman, the curse of the Babino, black cat and Billy Goat. The discussion about the Cov. Cath. vs. Highlands rematch makes me uncomfortable. Never poke the gods of jinx. I prefer to focus on the drive through Butcher Hollow.

Are you folks not getting the fact that these "breaks" had no determination in the outcome of the game! They did not capitalize on any of the fumbles! You could state the same case for HHS: CCH was intercepted, missed a chip-shot fieldgoal for our kicker, and couldn't find the right strategy to punch it in from the one. This stuff happens! Both teams did not play their best game.

 

Funny how you left out part of my post in your quote then paraphrased the part that you left out in your last sentance. To refresh I said niether tam played a perfect game and both teams have much to improve upon before what I suspect will be a rematch in November. To help you read between the lines that means that I think these two teams are good enough that they will both be alive for the quarterfinals and that both of them have the ability to play better next time.

 

I also enjoy the perspective of having watched the game on tape and replaying certain critical parts, specifficly those mentioned as crucial or game changing on this thread. I stand firmly behind my statement that CovCath benefitted from some good fortune that did indeed impact the game. Not the outcome. That was determined in spite of said good fortune.

HMMMMM......Not a fan of either team but reading all the posts this sums things up for me especially since you are on the Colonels side of things......Covington Catholic players are pumped because they almost beat Highlands? I really do not get that. I would say it would make them angry that it sounds like they could have won that they did not. Channeling that anger into working hard to get the rematch. Meanwhile how can Highlands be doubting themselves? They won didn't they? I think sometimes people mistake how BGP posters and fans feel vs how the coaches and players really view things.

Just because a Highlands fans makes a a statement or has an opininion certain people want to try and spin it in their favor and make it as if Dale and the ship is going down.

Most of the talk on here is about CovCath fans wanting the Highlands fans to say "yes you did play a nice game" and you do deserve a pat on the back for the hard work that the kids have been putting in to get back to where they have been in past yrs, and yes most Highlands fans have, but lets not forget who the top dog is, and until the top dog gets beat then theres still alot of work to do and all the moral victory stuff is all garbage imo. I highly doubt that Bir and Halpin and Wirth are feeling good about losing close. If they are then you are really in trouble. Just sayn........

 

PT wouldn't be one of those guys I would expect to be doubting himself. If it wasn't for him, Highlands loses by 2 TDs.

 

We don't take close victories in Park Hills. Occasionally the golf team does lose. They will bring what they brought and then some in November.

Most people do not "hate" Highlands. Some do but they're the minority. Many wish Highlands would lose because no one likes for one team to win all of the time if it's not your team. Their program is to be envied without question

 

I am one that does not hate Highlands. We had their number when I played. Heck....3 of my groomsmen in my wedding were legends over there that are my best friends.

 

I still want CCH to beat them in 2011.

Keep bringin' the fuel...

No fuel neccessary for these two teams. They both know they could have played better and both will make the adjustments needed to improve their performances.

When Ryche and I were sitting in the stands, the Birds were up 28-14. We left the stands for the 2nd half company of Family Tradition and the rest is history.....Something tells me next time, I'll holla at T after the game.
