I'd have to agree with you I think Ryle and Dixie should be reversed but perhaps NCC is better than we all thought. This week should give us all a better indication.

St. X hasn't lost to Manual in about 20 years and beaten Male since 2006. No reason to rank them ahead of X until they show they can beat X on the field. Too many people are believing all the hype about X's demise this year and they haven't seen them. Also, X beat Simon Kenton 35 -0 and Fern Creek 70 -0. Not bad for a 5th ranked team.

BGP likes to rip on the AP poll - and rightfully so sometimes. But this 6-A ranking is bad, really bad.

Yep, Polls mean so much in High School football. Male has three total returning starters, if they are ranked ahead of any team, they didn't get the info.

There is likely a "let's see how they do with Pike" opinion that left them there this week. Friday night versus Cov Cath will answer the "should we close the book on Dixie?" question.

I don't really disagree with the Tigers ranking at this point based on the fact that they haven't played any good competition as yet (SK was without their two best players,and FC had almost half their starters suspended). In addition I want to see if they have improved a lot over their JV and freshman performances, where they had losses to Central, Ballard, Male, and Manual, in addition to Trinity, Highlands, and the Cincy powers.

 

I'm waiting to see how X does against Riverdale and Bowling Green in the next two games. These tests should provide a true barometer of the Tigers' prowess.

Two comments--1. X's blowout of Fern Creek was meaningless given the 10 or 12 Creeker starters who were benched; and 2. Trinity is so far ahead the rest of the 6A that really the only spots worth debating on BGP are 2 thru 5.

Ryle with Elliott is one of the top 5 teams in the state regardless of classification

I would think you are right about Dixie. The combination of no Pike and a very good, albeit 2A, opponent in Newport Catholic probably helped to buy Dixie Heights an extra week. But if they get handled, or maybe even just beat, this week against Covington Catholic, who is also a solid team, should probably push the Red Colonels off of the list.
