I had Direct TV for a while. Does anyone know anything about their internet service?

 

I think Cincinnati Bell works with one of the satellite companies, perhaps Direct TV. Perhaps that could be an alternative for TV and you would get C Bell's high speed internet.

^ How much do you pay for the second box? The TV in the main room of my house is the only one with a box and it also has the XBox with Hulu+ and Netflix streaming so it's getting tough to weasel my way in for TV time. I'm considering getting another TV hooked to the cable but I'm concerned about cost.

I had a HD/on demand box for $6.00 and the DVR box is only $1.00 more. I did drop the 'free showtime' that was now costing me $5.00 a month and will have to drop the 'Free HBO' within a month if I don't want that bill added also. I should be less $4.00 on my bill.

I think they have or they will be ending that partnership soon. If you can get Cincinnati Bell Fiber optics internet with Direct TV I think that is the way to go.

Or Cincy Bell, As others have psoted, almost all people I know who has TW are not happy. As far as internet, I hear Insight is far bettee than Cincy Bell, with the 50.0 and going into a lot of areas Cincy Bell aren't even close to going into.

I have Directv for tv and Time Warner for internet service.Their internet service is really not that bad. I'll never go back to cable for tv.

I checked out Directv's satellite internet the speed is really not much faster than dial-up

It's terrible. Hopefully you can find another provider for that.

 

While I agree that Time Warner Cable is awful (I have Dish), I recently switched from AT&T DSL to Time Warner's RoadRunner cable internet. So far (about 2 months) I think it is wonderful. Much better than AT&T.

I live in OH, went from Direct to TW, def a drop off.

I read that it may be over a year before the two systems truly consolidate.

 

We could, though, lose the NFL Network at some point but maybe gain the MLB Network.

The thing about the Satelite networks I've heard and seen is they just go blank in even a mild rain storm. Is this typical?

This has not been the case with me. It really has to be heavy storm for our signal to go out. When it does it is usually for a few minutes. I guess it really depends on your signal strength. Most of the time we don't loose every channel.

As someone who's had service with both in the past, I found TW's customer service department to be downright reprehensible.

Same here, as well.

That was a problem with satellite dishes in the '90s, but as a general rule it's a thing of the past. If that issue is still being experienced today, you probably have a poor line-of-sight anyways and your dish may need to be re-peaked.
