After seeing the state games their was no one their as talented as Henry Clay. I like Victor Anderson but Rod Johnson is a much better runningback than Victor Anderson. If Rod Johnson played for St. X I would almost put money on it that he would be Mr. Football(unless Johnson goes to N.C. State instead of Kentucky of course then Mr. Football is thrown out. )

I probably should have bitten my tounge but the slam against Burke didn't sit well and also the slam against Coach Simpson last week was still lingering.

When healthy, Harrison could play with just about anyone in 3A. Had Lex Cath down 17 in the 4th. QB was injured and out for the year, right before the Franklin game. And it's not like Franklin was a joke- two losses, on the road at Lex Cath and Highlands. Went up to a tough place to play at Cov. Cath with a new starting QB and had a chance if they recovered the onsides kick. Seemed to me to be a similar team to Rockcastle. When they played with passion, they were tough.

 

Its a shame Harrison was not healthy. They looked like a solid team.

There's a difference between having the most talent and being the best team. Henry Clay had a LOT of talent, that was their biggest strength. I've talked to several Trinity supporters, quite rabid ones at that, who said that Henry Clay was the more talented group two weeks ago.

1) Lexington Catholic

2) Highlands

3/4) Bowling Green/Cov Cath

5) Harrison when healthy....Rockcastle after Harrison was banged up.

He's going to NC State and in my opinion that's why he isn't Mr. Football. I can't even give a guy a compliment without getting bashed. There is no doubt Justin Burke is the best player in Kentucky.

Their is no homer in that at all it's the truth. Sam Simpson is the reason they were not playing this week and anyone who went to the Trinity game will tell you that. Sam Simpson lost that game as bad as a coach can lose a game.

Fair question. I'm guessing the goose egg that HHS put up against a decent-at-best LC defense may have influenced some voters.

I totally took your response on Burke the wrong way. I apologize becasue I agree 100% with you there. I took the rolling eyes as a backhand toward Burke. As far as Henry Clay I don't doubt they were extremly talented and I didn't see them play this year so I'm not jumping at that hook.

I think you may be selling the Rocks a little short. There is more to this game than being big. Coach Simpson did his part but many of their players didn't live up to their advance billing. The Rocks were in superior shape and did their jobs against the larger (but not faster) HC team. The noseguard that everyone raved about never showed up. The big running back was out of gas in the second half. They had some very talented kids and deserved better from their coaching staff.But the Rocks aren't bad either.

Trinity's players should get a lot of credit they are the state champions. They reached the top. But for Henry Clay and most people will admit this if they saw Henry Clay. In Kentucky you will not have a team with anymore talent than that. So if your idea to win a state championship for Henry Clay is to get more talented players, I hate to say but it is never going to happen.

Trinity has a lot of talent. Henry Clay is right there with them in terms of it. I heard VERY knowledgable Rocks saying that Henry Clay's athletes were on the whole more talented.
