Not a bad way to look at it... I don't see Arizona giving UK the trophy to the '97 championship, even though Kentucky was the better team.

The pat answer would be to say that Trinity was the better team Friday night, for the only time all year.

I'm just asking for your reasons, but you didn't answer. In the interest of having my curiosity sated, I insisted you answer.

But my real answer is that if Petrino goes out with a pretty severe injury, instead of Curley, in my opinion we're talking about X's chances for a threepeat. I think that had they BOTH gone down, it's the same scenario. X had the better team, but had a lousy night.

Injuries are a part of the game, and I don't recall anyone cutting Trinity any slack throughout the season as they had to deal with injury after injury...not just injuries that removed a player for a few plays, but season ending injuries. BTW...I hope Brent is OK. I never heard what his injury was, but I really hope he's fine...he's a great competitor.

 

You might recall that I DEFENDED the Rocks after they laid their egg at the Pizza Box, and reminded people that Trinity was a good team that just had nothing go their way.

 

I'll have to research that. I don't remember any defense of Trinity by anyone but Trinity fans.

As as team, you are only as good as the last game you played. You improve on a game by game basis. You make adjustments as each game comes, and correct mistakes to make your team the best it can be for the playoffs. Im not saying at all that St. X wasn't improving, I just think the Rocks improved at a greater pace than St. X did this year. The BEST team every year is the team that plays thier best game last. And Trinity played that game against X.

That's a pretty nasty comment. But, sort of true nonetheless. If you don't learn from your mistakes, you won't have a chance in the end. It may have actually been fortuitious that we lost to X the way we did. We may never have made the changes that allowed us to win #16.
