Wouldn't the same go for you, considering that both Belfry & O'Cath went further in the playoffs than Ft. Campbell?

BTW......I agree that Russell is #1, but I strongly feel Belfry is #2 and that either of them would have decimated their counterpart from the west in the state finals.

Not exactly, I stated I based it on teams I watched either live or at least on film. I only saw Ft Campbell on film, but from what I saw, they were a better team that just had some calls go against them. I am not sure how Belfry would have matched up with O-Cath this year, but I still believe Newport was the best team I actually saw against Russell this year.

If anyone would have played Russell tougher than Newport did then they would have beat them. You cant play Russell and tougher then Newport did and still lose.

 

Its just an offense that works well with the horses he had. When you have good athletes at the skill positions you need to spread them out and let them use there ability.

 

Plus its the offense that UK ran while Hal Mumme was there cuz the O coordinator was a player while he was there from what im told.

I don't understand how cov. cath. could be rated higher than Highlands. I understand that they put up a great game against Lex. Cath. but Highlands beat cov. cath. a couple of weeks before that... :confused:

 

Fair question. I'm guessing the goose egg that HHS put up against a decent-at-best LC defense may have influenced some voters.

I'm not the biggest Belfy fan on here, but I was at the Russell/Belfry game & at the State Finals.

 

Belfry was an illegal procedure call away (TD called back) from winning at Russell after falling down 20-0 and playing what Belfry fans say is the worst half of football the Pirates have played in years, during the 1st half. Personally, I believe the better team won, but it was that close to being another semi-final loss for the Red Devils.

 

With all that being said, I have never seen Newport play so I can't really argue for or against them. Heck, I don't even know their nickname, sadly.

When healthy, Harrison could play with just about anyone in 3A. Had Lex Cath down 17 in the 4th. QB was injured and out for the year, right before the Franklin game. And it's not like Franklin was a joke- two losses, on the road at Lex Cath and Highlands. Went up to a tough place to play at Cov. Cath with a new starting QB and had a chance if they recovered the onsides kick. Seemed to me to be a similar team to Rockcastle. When they played with passion, they were tough.

Harrison when healthy was much better than most around the state realize. Franklin had an awsome offense but very little defense. South Oldham and Bullitt East would be in the top 10 too.

After seeing the state games their was no one their as talented as Henry Clay. I like Victor Anderson but Rod Johnson is a much better runningback than Victor Anderson. If Rod Johnson played for St. X I would almost put money on it that he would be Mr. Football(unless Johnson goes to N.C. State instead of Kentucky of course then Mr. Football is thrown out. )
