Does the bench have any say in the pitch called?

Ah, I would assume they can call a pitch if they REALLY want it but I'm not sure many MLB teams do that. They should have more confidence in their catching staff than that. I guess it depends on their confidence level in the catcher handling that specific pitcher. Again, I think it's more about the location of the pitch than the pitch itself.

Wasn't Hanigan holding his glove high before the pitch?

Yes. And Masset it left it thigh-high, middle-away.

And he's batting .190 with a 3-2 count. I'll take my chances with a well executed pitch. Masset didn't execute at all. End of story.

Agreed. Masset made a huge mistake and paid for it.

Here we go again with YTD stats. What has the batter done lately? I could care less about his YTD stats. Over the last 8 games he has been hitting .333 (8 for 24) with now 3 HRs.

And Prado has been hitting .306 with 2 homers since the break. Uggla strikes out a ton while Prado rarely does. Sure Uggla has been hot but he can be pitched to with little problem--unless you make a mistake with location, which is what happened. I have zero problem going after Uggla right there.

I just wanna say that the Braves are underrated when I watch them in person. Didn't get to say it after the game last night but the game was awesome. A lot of Brave fans there as well. A lot of people really dislike Dusty. That is all. Ha

They waited entirely too long to bring up Cozart

Unfortunately for him, it looks like he'll be missing some time now if this injury is as bad as it seemed on replay.

Yep. Looked pretty bad

Anybody else watching on Fox 41 in L'ville? What's up with the random switch to the Phillies-Pads?

Anyone think that Votto played a big part in Cozart getting hurt? He looked like he lobbed the ball toward second instead of throwing it. The MVP needs to get his act together if the Reds are going to do anything.

Cozart has a hyper extended wrist.

Anyone else notice Volquez's line last night in Louisville?

Marty Brennaman and the Cowboy talk about what they call Votto's lacksadasical (sp?) throws all the time, especially to first with the pitcher covering. He acts like he is afraid to let it loose sometimes. I think that Votto has turned himself into a pretty good defensive first baseman but he needs to work on his throws both to first and to second.
