I 100% agree, my nephew is a Cubs fan and was living in Chicago (a couple of blocks from Wrigley)when Dusty was in charge and that was the general feeling/complaints with him there. I just remember that he had two of the best pitchers in the NL (Woods, Prior) and used/threw them so much both went down/out with arm problems.

 

And apparently he learned from that. I think Dusty has done a very good job handling the Reds' young pitchers.

The Cubs couldn't win with Piniella, who's classified as a good manager.

Frankly, Piniella was basically going through the motions in 2010 ... I think he had lost his fire. When he took the job, the Cubs were on a short-term plan with several aging players on long-term contracts. When the team went belly-up in the 2008 playoffs, the window was closing fast.

But it started after Jocketty's arrival ... how many times I wished Jim Hendry would have taken similar action in Chicago.

I have no problem with how the young pitchers are handled by Dusty. I think Chapman was over used after he initially took some time off after being over used, but for the most part the young guys have been babied.

He was at one time but imo he was getting tired and didn't seem to have it in him the last few years. He just didn't seem to be the same old Lou.

I don't have a problem with the number of pitches Dusty let's them throw. If anything I think he pulls them a little early sometimes.

Okay it's the second inning and Rolen hitting 6th leads off with a double. With Lewis up you would think Dusty bunts him to 3rd for Hernandez to try to score him with 1 out. He lets Lewis hit and he grounds out to short. Why did Dusty who always bunts the runner over not do this with his ace on the mound and try to get a 2 run lead early?

That hasn't made any difference to Dusty in the past and with the way this team has been offensively why wouldn't you try to scratch another run for Cueto?

Nice decision Dusty. Give Chapman a chance to show the Cards he is back and tell Massett he is no longer your main setup man. Really worked well for you didn't it?

I would love to hear the Dusty supporters justify Chapman facing Pujols with Masset just watching. Coco is still the closer and Bray should still be the lefty used if you are going to start that inning with a lefty. I'll be patiently waiting.
