The player's union won't allow them to get rid of it because it would cost too many their jobs. I agree NL needs to use it if the AL keeps it. You can see a big difference in interleague games played at AL parks. NL teams are playing a guy that normally cannot crack the lineup and it shows.

If you can't go out and play defense or throw a fastball, then stay on the bench. Baseball is the most 2-way game there is. Offense and defense. I hate hate hate seeing a guy go yard and then go celebrate with his teammates by sitting in the dugout and watching them win the ball game on the field. 40 year old dh's do nothing but clog up roster spots for 23 year old guys who could gain some valuable time on a big league club learning how to be professionals.

In the High School and College game I love it as it allows more kids to play but in the MLB never!

I do, if Volquez threw a pitch high and tight on the other teams best hitter or hit him. In the American League a pitcher never has to worry about getting hit after hitting someone!

It isn't the number of roster spots that the union is concerned with. DHs in the AL are a big part of the offense and are generally highly paid players. That spot is usually taken by a lower paid utility/part time player in the NL.

During the Reds' broadcast they noted that Pronk hasn't played the field since 2007. I prefer the NL game and wish they would eliminate the DH but that won't happen.

I think there would be much more of a fan uproar if both leagues went to the DH than if they decided to no longer have the DH.

Both leagues just need to do the same as people have mentioned. If they don't want to go completely one way or another, then they could split it up. Before the All Star break allow the DH in both leagues, and then after the All-Star game don't allow teams to use a DH. This would make for some creative roster moves, because teams would have to decide if they really want to pay a lot of money for a guy to DH. Because once the second half of the season starts, he would either be having to play the field too or your paying a guy lots of money to sit the bench.

 

I know this wouldn't ever happen, but I think this would be pretty neat to see.

Totally for it. If we want to make baseball more archaic than it already is, sure remove a good bat with a person totally incapable. Look, I get the whole "chess" mentality, and I can appreciate that. It is interesting in the respect it creats managerial difficulties later on in the game with relief pitchers and other substitutions. That part is cool. My biggest issue is that hitting is not taken seriously by pitchers. We have had this discussion before, there is no reason pitchers should be as putrid as they are behind the plate, considering the majority of their lives they were most likely the best athletes and most likely great hitters. Irks me to no end.
