I saw this on my home page and watched the clip. I am suspicious of the reasons/motive that these are the only two words cut out. NBC apologized to those offended, but I have a problem with it. I believe there should be follow up as to who, why and how this was left out.

It is interesting and rather intriguing that this phrase would be left out.

Of course it wasn't in the original Pledge either but was a much later addition.

The phrase that I heard left out was......"one nation, under God, indivisible". I was steamed when I heard it live and I'm still steamed about it. It actually played twice in two different pieces in the intro. When it came to time to say "under God",

they just went to a shot of the sky. What is happening in this country?

Inexcusable. You either use the Pledge of Allegiance or you do not.

Agree with this.

wow, I agree also.

Under God was only added in 1954.

I think most people know that but what does that have to do with this situation? I agree that you use it correctly or use something else.

Sad and unacceptable. A full explanation has to be demanded.

Reminds me of when NBC changed the song in the 9/11 montage days after the attacks to Simon and Garfunkel's "America" from "God Bless America" after people complained.

NBC should be pilloried !!!

I had no idea. Found it interesting, my apologies dear sir.

What makes this inexcusable is the fact that this piece was largely produced ahead of time. Yes, there are a couple of clips from Rory that are in there...but by and large, this was something that has been in the can for awhile. Which means, there was ample time for this to be viewed, and reviewed, multiple times. I can't believe this was anything but a deliberate ommission. And I won't buy any appology that says it was a simple mistake.
