May 25, 201115 yr Is this enough sample size to prove Janish isn't an everyday player for you guys? He sucks.

May 25, 201115 yr Keep in the 8 hold and let him play great D. He's our Mark Belanger. Yeah, but this isn't the '70s, when guys like Belanger and Bud Harrelson could play everyday.
May 25, 201115 yr Is this enough sample size to prove Janish isn't an everyday player for you guys? He sucks. Yes I had enough sample size the previous three years, there is a reason Gonzo, Cabrera and Renteria have been brought in and that's because Janish sucks...Only thing is Renteria isn't Gonzo or Cabrera so its tuff plug him in there but id still rather have Edgar up with runners on...The 8 spot in the Reds lineup is a spot that is going to have RBI opps hitting behind Hernandez and Hanigan therefore Janish can't be hidden in the 8 spot...Whenever Leake, Wood or Willis if and when he pitches for the Reds id rather have them bat 8th than Janish...
May 25, 201115 yr He plays because of his defense. It's not good enough to make up for this kind of production.
May 25, 201115 yr He plays because of his defense. And Gomes plays because of his heart, very sad...LF can be solved or at least there are options in aaa...SS we have Cozart or Valaika in aaa, Frazier could play it with limited range...The bottom line is defense is great but many of the better shortstops have there problems on d from time to time...Rollins, H Ramirez, A Ramirez, Furcal, Tejada and Reyes all have struggled. From time to time in the field...If fielding was that important Golden Hands Castro would have started for many teams
May 25, 201115 yr Yeah, but this isn't the '70s, when guys like Belanger and Bud Harrelson could play everyday. Why can't it work today? Just because other SSs are producing more? Strong up the middle defensively wins games like offense wins games. Do we want Jeter who is struggling offensively AND can't get to many balls? The Reds have enough players to produce offense IF they're having their normal season. I'm not going to take a great defensive SS out of the lineup.
May 25, 201115 yr It's not good enough to make up for this kind of production. I disagree. If the Reds who are supposed to produce were producing we wouldn't have this conversation. His D is outstanding.

What do you do when Bruce and one of the catchers get on a head of Janish, forfeit the runs? Janish can't even get a sac down most of the time, he is only good as a defensive.replacement late in a game when protecting a lead...
May 25, 201115 yr Cueto was bad in the minors too. Leake needs to start every fifth day somewhere at this point. Then why did he only pitch 2 innings and throw only 32 pitches his last time out on Monday? Does that make any sense to you?
May 25, 201115 yr The longer Janish suuuuuuuuuuuuucks the more I like Reyes and the less I like Volquez. Where are all those Janish lovers now that couldn't wait to run Cabrera out of town so he could play everyday?
