Track The NL Central Champion Reds (Week 9)

Featured Replies

I'm not taking the fun out of it. I didn't say anything about HT saying Stubbs would hit a leadoff HR. I'd love to see Phillips, Votto, and Rolen all get hits, but let's be a tad realistic here. Heck, I think they'll manage at least 5-6 hits off him. Don't know why, but I actually feel pretty good about this game.

Also, I haven't seen any stats, but for some reason I've got the idea in my head that most teams have faired fairly well against guys the next time they see them after a no no.

They are going to win.

Reds SS are 3 for their last 68. Paul Janish is 1 for his last 35. Edgar Renteria is 2 for his last 33.

Why can't it work today? Just because other SSs are producing more? Strong up the middle defensively wins games like offense wins games. Do we want Jeter who is struggling offensively AND can't get to many balls?

The Reds have enough players to produce offense IF they're having their normal season. I'm not going to take a great defensive SS out of the lineup.

:thumb::thumb: I'm with you, unless there is one that can do both, and currently the Reds don't have that.

W Janish can't even get a sac down most of the time

Janish is one of, if not the best bunters on the team. Dusty has used him on more than one occasion on the squeeze play successfully.

What Janish lovers who wanted to get rid of Cabrerra? I don't remember any of those.

I'm not going back to research it but there were those on here that couldn't wait to get rid of Cabrera so that Janish would get his shot. They even questioned bringing Cabrera here and not letting him be the everyday shortstop.

Take away the top 3-4 games from all teams and how do they rank? It is all relative. You can get selective with stats and tell about any story you want. Janish/Renteria have more RBI's than Reyes and are only 4 runs scored behind Reyes. But I am not going to say Janish/Renteria is more productive than Reyes.

They also played together when Rolen was out so they have a few more games between them.

Kinda surprised Gomes isn't in the lineup. He's a career .257 hitter off Halladay, which is good in comparison to the rest of the Reds (outside of Hernandez).

Maybe his sparkling average ytd has something to do with that.

It's ridiculous how many calls Halladay gets on the corners.

For those of you hating on Janish, Renteria is 0-3 so far tonight, and 0-2 getting the runner in from 3rd with less than 1 out.

Agreed...He gets a couple inches or more on both corners...The Lewis at bat in the 6th was terrible...

Has anyone really been praising Renteria? I think we are tired of both, however Renteria puts together much better at bats...

Nice work stranding the leadoff triple by Wood.

If the Reds win, I may just make sure VOR has a new avatar. One with a foot in it's mouth.

He's failed twice tonight getting a runner in from 3rd with less than 1 out. Yep he's put together some great AB's tonight.
