Halladay has only gone less than 7 innings 2 times this year.

And those were 6 and 6 2/3 inning outings.

10 starts, 4 CGs... The Reds staff is still searching for their first.

Why can't it work today? Just because other SSs are producing more? Strong up the middle defensively wins games like offense wins games. Do we want Jeter who is struggling offensively AND can't get to many balls?

The Reds have enough players to produce offense IF they're having their normal season. I'm not going to take a great defensive SS out of the lineup.

Because the game has changed and the "all-glove, no-stick" guys just don't get everyday starting jobs anymore. Juan Castro and Janish would be all-stars in the '60s and '70s. Nowadays they're utility guys, late-inning defensive replacements. Most GMs will accept will accept serviceable fielders if they have a big stick. The all-glove guys are turned into utility guys long before they reach the majors these days.

Not saying I agree or disagree with it; just that's how it is.

The reds were I think second in the league in runs scored a week ago. The hitting over all has went south in the last week. It will come back. Janish was hitting pretty good until he got his ankle hurt. Then toothpick put him in at the 2 spot and he hasn't been good since. He did hit a screamer last night that the third baseman made a good play on. If everyone else was hitting things would be fine.

Most of that was due to the first week of the season. Take those runs out and the average I think is not very good.

Take away the top 3-4 games from all teams and how do they rank? It is all relative. You can get selective with stats and tell about any story you want. Janish/Renteria have more RBI's than Reyes and are only 4 runs scored behind Reyes. But I am not going to say Janish/Renteria is more productive than Reyes.

Stubbs 8, Phillips 4, Votto 3, Rolen 5, Bruce 9, Hernandez 2, Lewis 7, Renteria 6, Wood LHP. vs. Halladay.

Kinda surprised Gomes isn't in the lineup. He's a career .257 hitter off Halladay, which is good in comparison to the rest of the Reds (outside of Hernandez).

So Halladay's on the mound tonight....How long do the Reds go before they get their first hit? I'm saying Bruce gets one in the 2nd.

Phillips, Votto, Rolen all get hits in the first...

Come on UKM, don't take the fun out of dreaming before the game. Let us all enjoy our fantasies while we can. I am not sure how much fun Reds fans are going to have once the game starts.

I'm not taking the fun out of it. I didn't say anything about HT saying Stubbs would hit a leadoff HR. I'd love to see Phillips, Votto, and Rolen all get hits, but let's be a tad realistic here. Heck, I think they'll manage at least 5-6 hits off him. Don't know why, but I actually feel pretty good about this game.

Also, I haven't seen any stats, but for some reason I've got the idea in my head that most teams have faired fairly well against guys the next time they see them after a no no.
