The media has covered a lot of things more stupid than this that is for sure. Should they not cover sports because we have more important things to worry about? They cover what people want to see and read about not what is most important for our country.

Not really, the media is a business just like any other business they want to make a profit, and by showing these type of events that's what they do.

Not going to watch it but doesn't mean it's wrong that media outlets recognize that other want to, that's called understanding you're audience which is a good thing to do if you're audience is what gets you paid.

Obviously I started this thread in jest, but as a Great Britain study abroad vet and self-proclaimed anglophile, I am somewhat intrigued by the wedding. Not to the point of infatuation, but I have paid attention when things come on television.

They cover it to the extent of the viewers and this has a ton of viewers somehow. I agree that it is silly but I get why they do it.

I just can't wait until I get my Official Royal Wedding Wall Plate! I'm almost giddy in anticipation!!

I've seen a few things advertised like that and I'm sure more will come in the next couple weeks. Who on earth would buy any of that?

 

What I love is that people in America sent gifts to England when Charles and Diana got married. Gifts! I barely send gifts to family members, why in the world would you mail one across the globe?!

Ya but it's the fact that we know we can do it again without any question. Oh and we live in KY and all probably still have nicer teeth than them.

In all seriousness ... (to RM) my impression is that people here (overall) don't even consider people over there in the same manner that they think about us. I full admit .. that is my opinion only .. and I could be wrong. But .. pretty much to a "T" ... they hate us over here. Again .. opinion.

 

Now .. as my wife was scrolling through this garbage .. the one thing that caught my interest .. is that poles over there say that most people are not interested in the wedding. Yet ... they are still predicting millions in the area. Can't figure that one out. Also can't figure out why people here seem more excited than what a pole says over there.

 

I will never get it .. so I should probably just shut up .. but .. that wouldn't be all that fun.

You mean....sorta like a lot of people in the United States hate the English (and all other foreign entities)....and people here call the Brits names? I mean...it's not like I've seen it on BGP or anything....

 

And I think it's funny we're still lording over them the fact that we whipped their butts 235 years ago. Isn't that kind of like saying you won a state championship 52 years ago? I'm just sayin'
