March 30, 201115 yr Can't say how I feel about Calhoun in this forum. Put it this way, I would never let me son get near him. I hope Cal puts a major beat down on him Saturday.
March 30, 201115 yr Calhoun just hates Calipari because Calipari stole a potential nickname. Now Calhoun has nothing...There can't be 2 coach Cals.
March 30, 201115 yr Isn't there some personal friction between the two stemming from Calipari's time at UMass?
March 30, 201115 yr Vacating 2 final fours tends to get noticed. Look at the 96 NCAA tourney records. You'll notice Mr. Callhon had to vacate his games also..... You could also ask why he got only 3 games for some of the same crap Pearl pulled at UT.
March 30, 201115 yr Isn't there some personal friction between the two stemming from Calipari's time at UMass? Something to do with the recruitment of Marcus Camby. Camby was from Connecticut but never appeared to want to play for the Huskies, but rather for Cal at UMass. Who knows what else factors into that...
March 30, 201115 yr Look at the 96 NCAA tourney records. You'll notice Mr. Callhon had to vacate his games also..... You could also ask why he got only 3 games for some of the same crap Pearl pulled at UT. Did he vacate a final 4? Or two for that matter? It tends to get more notice at that high level.
March 30, 201115 yr Sometimes the media gets stuck on something and they just won't let it go. I remember UC basketball and Huggins getting blasted for years over poor academics but the facts were that UC was graduating players at a respectable rate. They had a couple of bad years and then for the next ten they were labeled as a bad academic team. Here is another one. The Bengals get hammered for run ins with the law. You never hear about the Steelers problems with the law yet for about a five year stretch there were more Steelers getting into legal trouble than Bengals. Even worse, nearly every Steeler getting into trouble was because of domestic violence/abuse, a lot worse than the DUI's the Bengals were committing IMO. Yet I bet some of the posters here are surprised to hear that because the media doesn't hammer on it like they do on the Bengals. The media has Calipari labeled a certain way and Calhoun labeled a certain way and they don't like changing their story lines.
March 30, 201115 yr Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Calipari self-report to the NCAA when he discovered that Camby had been involved with an agent? If he doesn't do that the, the NCAA doesn't even know about what Camby did. Instead of the media hammering Calipari for a vacated Final Four they should be praising him for what he did. Most coaches would have gone to their graves with that knowledge. And there's not a coach in the country that wouldn't have played Derrick Rose after he was ruled eligible to play. The NCAA was wrong to vacate Memphis' Final Four and wins that season IMO. They handled the Rose case like someone who played a wrong card in a poker game and then wanted to take it back. It's not suppose to work that way.
March 30, 201115 yr Did he vacate a final 4? Or two for that matter? It tends to get more notice at that high level. If he had to vacate games does it matter how far he went?
March 30, 201115 yr If he had to vacate games does it matter how far he went? If he's cheating and still can't win is he even a good coach?
March 30, 201115 yr I'm not a big fan of Calhoun, which is unfortunately because he's had many players I enjoy (Kemba, Ray Allen, Hamilton). I hope Coach Cal shows that he's the superior coach Saturday (I know one game won't prove anything) and puts together a great game plan to slow down (not stop) Kemba Walker and the Huskies.
March 30, 201115 yr If he's cheating and still can't win is he even a good coach? . Close to my point. I'm just saying...cheating is cheating no matter how good you do.
