I understand your frustration, jman69, but to be honest I've seen very few disparaging comments made about Owensboro Catholic's football team on this board at any time this season. It does seem that a select, yet vocal, group of the team's supporters exaggerate the amount of "criticism" the Aces receive here.

Well said.

Someone may have posted an exact number, but can anyone answer exactly how many players that Russell has going both ways?

Not 100% sure but there are 8-9 that go both ways.

53 Michael Schafer= NG/OT 6' 220lbs

56 Josh Wills= G/LB 5' 10" 200lbs

52 Tim Smith= G/T 5' 10" 220lbs

60 Drew Mell= T/T 6' 230lbs

3 Tommy Brown= QB/CB 5'10" 180lbs

18 Jacob Sizemore=TE/CB 6'3" 190lbs

24 Kasey Clark=RB/CB 6' 190lbs

45 Chad Edwards=RB/DB 5'10" 190lbs

91 Cameron Perry= TE/G 6'2" 220lbs

These are the boys that play mainly both ways. I could have some positions wrong but this is close.

Thank you for the information.

With this many players going both ways, Russell must keep the ball away from Catholic. Sustained drives for the Russell O will be extremely important.

What a great day of posts, really hope this kind of respect continues from both sides.

I have seen both teames play,OBC vs A week Monroe county at T-ville O.B.C won 42-6,and a week Scottie team from Glasgow in a win of 48-10,Not to say these teames are week, but i have watched both games.Being from northearstern K.Y. i have watched the Red Deviles Play a tough Fleming County team with a strong passing game ,and a very strong Mercer County Team. What i have seen it wiil be a great game.

What I have seen Russell will have truble with the hurry,up O, but do not count the Russell D out

Are you sure you were there? That game was in Owensboro. There is a slight difference in driving to Owensboro and driving to Tompkinsville :D

We shut down and beat the #1 passer when we played Fleming, We shut down the gigantic offensive line of Mercer. Last year we were beat by a better Belfry team. our team wasso good last year our starters did not play a full game until Belfry. IT SHOWED...... This year we have played 4 games to the end and our boys did not give up, did tire but pulled it together. I will go out on a limb and say this. This game will and should be a dandy and the best of the weekend. You cant match them up. they are 2 different teams. we have showed we could play the pass and the run. Man I can not wait til Friday. Just to get in the groove of the game again.

HEY ARE WE HOME OR AWAY THIS YEAR ?????

if we are away i hope that we wear the maroon pants with the white jersey. That looks really nice and the kids love that uni.....

Yea but Ivan hates that uni. The maroon in the pants does not match the maroon in the jersey. We did that at morgan and according to my son Ivan said NO! :creepy:

According to the info for the Championship on the KHSAA website, we will be the home team since we are in the bottom half of the bracket...Looks like we will be solid maroon... :thumb:

Looks like the game is pretty even and should be a good game.

It took me long enough to get in this post. The keys to this game are the same as the last three games.

1. Can Russel stay fresh throughout the whole game? If they play 8 or 9 guys both ways it will be difficult, but Russell has to have great athletes to be in the Pizza Box so I won't be surprised of they don't get tired.

2. Will OC make Russell pass? It's obvious Russel is a very good running team, and I would assume they don't want to have to throw. OC has made their last couple opponents, who weren't passing teams, try and pass the ball. Catholic can score very quickly and make a coach go to the pass more than he would like. Look at DeSales. They were not a good passing team and for some reason they got away from the run and decided to throw a lot more.

3. Catholic tackling. OC must tackle well to win. I have seen almost every OC game this year and very rarely have I thought the Aces were the better tackling team. The Aces better cowboy up and be ready to hit somebody if they want the hardware.

My prediction:OC 35 Russel 20

Rafterman,

Your last 2 points are good ones and I would have to agree. IMO the Catholic defense has done a good job against the run this year. At times, they have given up yards, but they have contained some really good running teams. I don't think Russell will have the same team speed as Ft. Campbell. Catholic's weak spot is their pass defense IMO. Russell may not want to go to the air much, but this is where they might have some success.

Russell's bread and butter is the run, but they are also not afraid to go to the air. The Red Devils have been very successful throwing the ball this year.
