I will say that my profession requires a minimum 4 year degree although a Masters has become the new standard, a specific training program, passing a rigorous certification examination as well as the accumulation of continuing education credits throughout your career. I believe with the deepest core of my being that a majority of unions are corrupt, that they are in business now solely to enhance the lives of their leadership and do little if anything to actually help the average worker. In that regard I believe that unions are every bit as evil as the left would have you believe that corporations are. If you choose to be in a union more power to you but if I want to pursue a trade and I don't want to join a union I should have that option. I fully support right to work states, I wish KY would pull their collective heads out of the sand and let that happen here but alas union money will not allow that to happen because they know that they would lose a HUGE percentage of their members if they were allowed to opt out.

 

I recently visited a Kroger's which, is a union shop. The checker was downright rude to me to the point that I felt the need to complain to a manager. I was told that the complaint would go on file but until there were 8 complaints of the same nature against the worker union rules would allow no action to be taken. That's wrong.

 

Any manager that tells you that should be terminated. Do you really believe that they are not allowed to take disciplinary actions against that employee until 8 occurrences?

No where did he say that he was happy with higher gas prises . He did say that he would have preferred a gradual price rise . Instead of the Price rise that we got back then . I think everyone would agree that if gas prices do indeed need to rise you would to prefer that it be gradual if at all

My local union does the best possible job it can do for our members as well as for our company. We even have a no strike clause with our company as well so our company never has to worry about its employees not working. Unfortunately you live in area where there is sorry management taking place at Kroger. They obviously give their union way too much power. Our union is exceptional at protecting employees deserving of their jobs but employees enagaging in stupidity such as that Kroger employee generally can't be protected forever. Especially after 8 complaints. That is the company's fault for continuing to let it happen as well as union leaderships fault for not schooling that employee to the fact that she is making the entire union leadership look bad. A good union has the company's best interest at heart without compromising the union at the same time. I am proud to belong to such a union and I look forward to one day becoming part of my local union's leadership.

People have a choice. They don't have to join. Just don't expect to find a large amount of work as a large amount of companies are unionized and most contracts are won by unionized entities. I pose the question why not join a union if you have a trade or find new employment at a unionized company? IMO, the pros of being in a union outweigh the cons.
