May 19, 201115 yr From what I have read the problem with shale is economics. High costs are causing some of the biggest North American shale gas producers are moving away from it and moving back to drilling for oil. Could be. I have read some about it but not a ton. I did see that estimates for shale oil go as high as $95 a barrel. Also apparently not all shale can be refined to make gas.

May 19, 201115 yr Lots of waste in the process which adds to the cost being high. I think there is still some technology that needs to be developed before it would be worth it. I also think they really don't know how much viable shale there is. I've seen esitmates of 2 trillion barrels. If that could be realized our worries would be gone.
June 27, 201115 yr $3.24 up above Winton Woods today. Pretty close to that in Maysville, $3.28. Saw it as low as $3.19 in Columbus on Saturday (and that was right off the interstate!)...but yet, Northern Kentucky is still around the $3.49 mark. I understand the usual 5-10 cent differences...but 30? What gives?
