Where's the outrage???

So a bus/bike is out of the question for you?

Without question. I have to travel to and from client's offices and warehouses, etc. At least 50% of my year is spent at a client's of some sort. When that ranges across all of KY, OH, IN, and WV, yes I'd say a bike/bus is not practical.

I'm by no means advocating that we should never use a drop of oil, but the majority of us (myself included) in city centers like Lexington, Louisville and Cincy would probably be best served by taking the bus more.

This thread is laughable. Maybe I missed it but I really don't recall Obama saying he would lower gas prices. Common sense would say(at least to me) that after we invaded Iraq/Afghanistan that gas prices would never go down to what they used to be.

What I recall is Obama saying he had no problem with $4.00 a gallon for gas and people were "smart" enough to vote for him anyway. I also remember the left slamming Bush because gas prices spiked. I want to know where those people are now.

Don't recall GWB making that statement either.

Well, I voted for Obama, and I lived through the GWB era, and I didn't slam GWB. I slammed the people of America for their habits. It's been my mantra throghout each discussion.

We had a big, long thread on this and I wish someone could find it, so we can yell at the guilty parties. I, too, remember blame being laid at the feet of GWB.

Doggonit, if we can't yell at each other for our past comments, what good is P&R?!

Obama and his followers believe that renewable energy is the answer. When a major breakthrough in technology happens, then oil will be put on the backburner. Until then oil will be needed. Until then we need to use the resources that we have here in this country.

Oil exports have not diminished. There is no shortage of supply, .

If you're saying there is no shortage of supply of any type of oil I will agree.

If you're saying there is no shortage of cheap crude oil that we use today then I will wholeheartedly disagree.

After some of the brazen things I've seen in the past decade, I think the oil business figures it can pretty much get away with anything, so while I'm outraged, it's also tempered by resignation/disappointment. The same resignation and disappointment I feel about the whole national political process, which is horribly, inextricably corrupt and broken.

Building the Alaskan Pipeline was expensive, but eventually brought down the price for a barrel of oil. It will not happen overnight and never will happen if we do not go after what we have in our possesion. And even if the price stays up, it is a more reliable source. I know we will always import oil, but those oil producers need us or they are in a world of hurt. Their economies depend on oil as well.

If we drill for oil and buy less from them, at some point they will drop prices and pump more oil to try to make up for lost income.

You can thank the Unionized construction worker for the Alaskan oil pipeline !

Don't you think the unrest in the Middle East and North Africa may have something to do with it?

When a leader of an oil producing nation is said to have ordered his forces to blow up oil production facilities, that will spike the oil prices.

You can thank the Unionized construction worker for the Alaskan oil pipeline !

Yeah, because only union workers know how to build a pipe line.

Certainly can, along with politicians, big oil companies, non union workers, management, etc.
