Nice

I just don't see him going any where other than Auburn.
What??? Has Cecil been up there? :idunno:

Sometimes it would be nice for these kids to stay in State.

I agree it would be nice, but this state just doesn't have a true football school. UK will always be a basketball school playing football, and L-ville is really not that far behind. If you're a top football player, you gotta go where football is #1 - or at least tied for #1.

No way Pike stays in state nor in the area. If you want to know why, just read a couple of threads about him on here. I believe he has seen and heard enough from the area folks.

I couldn't agree more.:thumb:

This is 100% correct!! From a reliable source!

If you ask me, he’s not going to UK, UofL, UC or any program without multiple National Championships and Heisman Trophy winners.

Case in point…Lamar Dawson. Boyle County kid born and raised. UK was on him early - like freshman year early. As a linebacker, he was recruited by Chuck Smith, Boyle County legend, and current UK linebackers coach. He attended all of UK’s camps, made multiple unofficial visits, and every recruiting guru out there said he was ultimately gonna pick UK. Then Lane Kiffin and USC join the fray late last summer, and all of the sudden he has a signing day change of heart and commits to USC, much to the chagrin of the entire Commonwealth.

And who can blame him, 11 time national champion USC...or UK?!?! In basketball, I’d swap that statement around, but in football....no brainer.

And that is why I think Pike will end up at Bama, or Florida, or USC, or Michigan, or ND, or somewhere of that ilk.

"Ilk" You say that with such disdain. I agree that he will not stay local. Good luck to him as he and his family make a very important decision.

Nahh, no disdain. I just felt like using the word to be perfectly honest.

A few things here I disagree with

1) The experts were just about split between UK and Tennessee for Dawson right before NSD without preliminary indications of USC.

2) USC has produced a lot of NFL talent and been successful, but their recruiting class next year is very likely to be in the single digits (could be around 7 or 8 including lots of attrition) because they delayed their sanctions with an appeal to the NCAA and signed a big class this year. And their coach (Lame Kitten), was named in an NCAA investigation that is likely going to penalize him. (John Calapari was NEVER named in an NCAA investigation, but Lame Kitten has). The number of 11 championships is also debateable because they got caught paying a player and the win was vacated but it is yet to be determined if the championship still counts, and they count a championship that they did not play in the BCS title game. Without those 2 championships, they havent won one since the 70's.

3) I have it on good work from Jason Higdon of scout.com's fightingators.com that they are not looking at Pike as a viable option with Florida signing 2 Qb's this year including Jeff Driskel the #1 QB in the country.

I do agree that Pike will go somewhere big and that Chuck Smith dropped the ball for UK on Dawson.

I've read West Virginia forums where they feel like the can get Pike. According to the forums Pike really like Dana Holgerson(sp?) and even called Holgerson after he took the WVU job to give him some congrats. Anyone think he could end up in Morgantown?

Just want to say that Lamar Dawson didn't like the new DC at UK and there was nothing Chuck Smith could do about that.

Everyone made some great points after my comment. Shaun was an example I should have looked at, but he told me that Kentucky never really wanted him.

SA loves Bama and is really happy with his choice, maybe I need to talk to the Pikes. Its like being a basketball player in the Bluegrass, we love our players/team/history/very nice people. (except for the tree hater).

What a list of programs.
