December 23, 201015 yr In beer aficionado circles, the Yuengling brand has achieved near-cult status. A family-owned brewery in a small Pennsylvania town, still run by a guy named Yuengling, and an affordable price have all combined to create a brand with an aura of genuineness and quality. Another key to its appeal is its scarcity. Yuengling is only sold in 13 states and Washington, D.C., giving it a hard-to-get quality that is appealing to lovers of full-bodied beer who stay away from the mass-market stuff. Neither Ohio nor Kentucky is among the states where you can (legally) buy a Yuengling. But the company is expanding one of its two breweries in Pottsville, Pa., and is planning on buying a former Coors brewery in Memphis. And with the expansion comes word that Yuengling is eyeing neighboring Ohio as its next market. A company official confirms it's been sizing up the market here, talking to distributors and getting a feel for how sales would go. "We've done our homework, so to speak, about entering Ohio," said Lou Romano, Yuengling's marketing director. That includes analyzing the competition and estimating what share it could take from them. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20101223/BIZ01/12260314/Yuengling-eyes-Cincinnati-market :dancingpa:
December 23, 201015 yr Yuengling is very good beer. A buddy of mine drives down to Tennessee every week end to get 6 cases of it....yes, 6 cases for the week.:lol:
December 23, 201015 yr Great beer, I usually pick up some in Pa. when I go up that way. Probably will get some in a couple of weeks, going to the Penguins game on 1/8.
December 23, 201015 yr Would love if Yuengling came to the area. Absolutely my favorite beer. Every time I go east I grab some.
December 23, 201015 yr Couldn't help but notice the mention of Hudepohl Amber Lager. Anybody else tried it? I had it for the first time a couple of months back, and I've always got a stock of it in my fridge now. Great beer, and I think it has a similar taste to Yuengling...
December 23, 201015 yr I'll be counting the day's until it's available in this area. Luckily, I've had an ample supply on hand thanks to many good friends. In fact, I'm enjoying one at this very moment.
December 23, 201015 yr I would definitely purchase Yuengling on a regular basis if I could get it. I love the stuff. Definitely my favorite beer. Being able to get it all of last year when I lived in Memphis made me spoiled.
December 24, 201015 yr I need to see what all the hype is about. It's just a very solid beer, and probably all hyped up because we can't get it here.

I'll have to give it a try, I've heard good things about the new Hudy.

But.........................6 cases a week?? Really? Your friend is either a raging alcoholic, a bootlegger, or a really awesome dude who loves to spread the love of hops.:thumb:

December 24, 201015 yr I guess I’m lucky to have Yuengling 15 minutes from the house, I used to drink them exclusively for a short time, but have since started bouncing around again. I still love a good Yuengling with CAO MX2 cigar...
December 24, 201015 yr It's just a very solid beer, and probably all hyped up because we can't get it here. I agree. It gets a lot of respect for being America’s oldest brewery and a lot of allure for being hard to get.
