Will it ever be in NKY or will I always have to cross the river to get it?

Tried the Ky Bourbon Barrel Ale. They had a Ky Ale truck and had it on tap. When I got my cup I was like, that's it? For $4.00? I am not a fan of liquor but it went down smooth and I knew we weren't going to be at the festival long and since it was going down smooth and I knew I wanted another one before we left, I downed it fairly quick. I wish I had came back to this thread because I had a nice nice buzz. I got a Ky Ale Light(Kolsch, maybe) the next time up and my wife drove home. :lol: Nice beer. I like when I can get a buzz on quickly. I do enjoy the actual drinking of the beer though so I'll stick with Yuenglings and Bud Lights for now. I'd drink Ky Bourbon Barrel Ale at a party though.

Actually I don't think you would want to drink a KBBA at a party. You'd probably want to go with something a little more sessionable. A KBBA is something that you should sit down and enjoy while relaxing.

Not sure why anyone would want their beer to taste like bourbon, or vice versa.

I've never really enjoyed bourbon (do I lose my KY Colonel certificate for that?) but I LOVE this beer.

I've never really had much at all. I did, though, try some and enjoyed it quite a bit at a recent festival. I tried it simply because of my enjoyment of the KY Bourbon Barrel Ale.

I've been told the best is Pappy Van Winkle, but I can't afford it, and it's extremely hard to find anyway. I have had some very good premium-priced bourbons, though. Evan Williams' 23-year-old is quite good. As is Booker's and Blanton's. I usually get my old man a bottle of the good stuff for Father's Day, trying to pick up something different each year. Fortunately, where I live, there are a lot of good options. I got him some Willett's in June and it was quite good.

My preference is on the rocks with a splash of water. Some of the high-octane stuff can be a bit harsh on the gullet and are hard to drink straight. Elijah Craig and Barton's 1792 Ridgemont Reserve are my favorites, as they are quality bourbons at reasonable prices (under $25 a fifth).

I watched a show, the other night, called "The Best Of." They were talking about the best Bourbons. They also picked the Pappy Van Winkle 23 year. For newbies, they suggested starting with Beam...moving up to Maker's...and then up again to Woodford Reserve.

Ridgemont's 1792, my favorite!!! Most of the time I drink it with a sprinkle of Coke.
